This is pretty straightforward! After having made a few CC now,
I can't help but notice when I get into the game that a lot of other's thumbnails look less blurry than mine.
I've been trying to see if there was anything I could do,
but every time I try, it still ends up blurry.
My current method of taking thumbnails is by shrinking a 4k image to the thumbnail size (104x148)
Is there a recommended way to take thumbnails for CAS mods?
Misc Info:
1. S4S version: 3.2.1.9
2. Issue: Wanting more high quality thumbnails.

Hi. One pixel can display only one color.
When you make an image 40 times smaller, one pixel has to display what used to be ~1600 colors.
Render thumbnail previews in 104x148. Much faster and in the best quality it can possibly be.

Can I ask what you mean by render? As in render inside Blender?

Ah, you take them in ts4?
It would be faster and easier to do that in blender by rendering, yes

Update: I rendered my images inside Blender by the thumbnail size, but it's the same quality as my previous thumbnails. Just blurry :(

How many samples do you set?

It was originally at the default of around 80-something, but after seeing someone suggest increasing it, I kept randomly experimenting until I went all the way up to around 500-800 samples.
But it made it even blurrier by the time I hit that range. Is there a number you suggest for the samples?

Normally 500 is enough. Makes no sense for it to become worse, are you using cycles? Changing samples for rendering, not viewport?

No image in materials was included, so i cant test to see if theres any underlying problem, the only possible causes i see are eevee and JPEG + Quality set to 90 Compare your situation to this set up ( yellow are optional ). You do not need to do more than this is terms of lights and materials, none of it makes enough difference on a small image to be worth the time it takes to add  |

I cannot do cycles or change the world coloring; the former always completely messes up my lighting and feel I want for my thumbnails, while the latter is just completely different lighting from my HDRI map I have plugged into it. But I will try them regardless to see the difference! Maybe it is worth changing?
What do you mean by image in materials? I can give you the one I'm using if it'll help at all. Thank you

Also, this is how the render looks after using almost all of your recommended settings (except the world node and the transparency ticked (forgot...^^'). Is this how it is supposed to look?  |

It is lit worse than it should be. I think it is eevee’s fault
Try doing a test render exactly like I did to compare
Export your garment from s4s, open, disable rendering for body parts, change format and output, change the background to light gray, choose cycles, increase samples, render.
If it turns out better, try adding your desired modifications one at a time to see what exactly is causing the problem

For that picture I used cycles. When I said I did everything except the world settings, I genuinely meant it! (Cycles, render settings, format, samples, camera, just everything except the world lighting.)
But despite the way it is lit, it still is blurry which is my main issue. The lighting I can just change in a photo-editing software afterwards.
