Hiiii. I feel stupid asking for help again when I'm still struggling with the last thing I tried, but this is driving me crazy.
I made a recolor of an accessory staff a while ago (with permission), but when I took it into CAS, the texture was darker than in S4S. I did something to fix it, but I can't remember what. I went to make a second version using another texture space, and it has the same problem as the original. Things I've tried:
- Made a custom specular (looks nice, doesn't help with darkness)
- Swapped Normal and Specular for blank (no change)
- Cloned the fixed recolor I made as a base, instead of the original (still dark)
v1 (hat texture space) looks right in CAS, v2 (other texture space) is visibly darker. They use the same texture. You'll find it under Wrist > Right in CAS, toward the bottom. Including the original file for comparison. Any idea what's going on?

Hi. One pixel can display only one color. When you shrink an image in half, one pixel has to display a mix of what used to be 4 colors. As a result of this, colors blend, loosing their quality and brightness. Bear in mind that v2 will conflict with most tops and full-body outfits

Hi mauvemorn! I know it'll conflict with some things, but I wanted to offer an alternative version for use with hats, without having to shrink the texture down by half to fit it in Glasses or Necklaces. The hat version is the main one, but I would like them to match. And they do, minus the darkness. It's weird, because I've shrunk textures down before to reassign them, and they usually come out blurry, but not dark. The original item is also darker in CAS than in S4S. I still don't know why that is. v2 looks like the original does.

This item should be vertex painted with black color, both versions. This may be making it darker in-game as compared to s4s. However, since they use different rendering engines, one cannot expect the same result in both. This is not the reason why v1 and v2 differ from each other, though.

Thanks for checking for me. I'll give that a try but if it's not the cause, what is the reason V1 and V2 differ? That's what bugs me most. Only the texture position is different. The original was also darker by default. I cannot figure out why that is.

I did, and I made a gif to be sure. But to test it, I went in and color-filled both texture spaces with white. Just overlaid both textures in a solid color. This is what they look like in CAS.

I sorted it. Ended up just moving the texture. Doesn't look as good, but it's not in a shadow anymore.
