Hi, I'd like to attempt now to convert a pants mesh after my previous conversions of a top and boots
1) I was wondering whether/how to reduce the 16k polycount the mesh has without changing the mesh too much (should I decimate or do it manually or another way) or if its ok as is, (I did mesh merge by distance) it still seems quite high to me. If it is ok, then what is considered high poly? I find very varying answers to this.
The uvs of the mesh that corresponds to the stitching details (the pants have three mesh groups, stitching part is one of them) are also quite a monstrosity super long and not in the uv space so i ended up having to significantly size them down compared to other islands when testing to see if i could get all uvs in the template, i did in the end (this was just a test to see if they'd even fit, i haven't worked on the mesh at all and will start over, need to anyway cause I made a mistake with the wrong uv selected) I hope my way of hypothetically fitting it all in is ok.
I might have to arrange it more if the final mesh has body part attached to it, according to the maxis pants, I think Ill need to attach some of the bottom mesh (the tummy part) to the top of the pants once they've been fitted but wanted to check. Pants already have the holes closed.
2)When it comes to reference for data transfer if the process is for pants should I follow something similar to my boots conversion in my last thread? Create a reference from feet + bottom, duplicate and use it for the data transfer? or is it necessary to also use the top section? I feel like the bottom section stops high enough on the belly to not require this but not sure.
3)I don't know if it's best to choose pants with 3 or 4 cuts (couldn't find anything different after looking at multiple pants and shorts too). All bottoms i tried all have cuts, so I guess the part about testing first on a one cut reference before doing the cuts isn't applicable here like on the boots?
