I modified a mod that I downloaded, specifically a merged file of Luumia's body hairs that makes them work as actual body hairs. However, the CC was set up so that all the body hairs were treated as torso body hair, meaning it included the leg, arm, and back hairs as well.
I went ahead and separated the hairs into their respective categories. To do this, I copied the same .package file four times (I already know thats probably the root of the problem), one for each type body hair, and masked the right body hair area with photoshop, and changed to the corresponding CAS part on S4S.
Now, after finishing everything, the four files are conflicting with each other, and they only work properly if I place just one at a time in my mods folder.
I tried merging all the files back together, but that didn’t work. I also tried to redo the files as CAS standalones using S4S, but the CC ended up broken. The Sim gets that glitch with the red and white checkered pattern and question marks.
Does anyone know what I should do to fix this problem?

Hi. To make a standalone item, you need to clone the original, not copy and rename it. - delete all these copies; - put the original file in BOTH Documents/Sims 4 Studio/Mods and Documents/Electronic arts/The Sims 4/Mods; - restart s4s; - with Create CAS standalone selected, click on CAS, filter by Custom, Shift-click on one swatch to select all, Next, save in Ts4’s mods folder; - re-categorise; - repeat the process of cloning and recategorising

So, in the original file, all the different body hair styles are merged by color (blonde, black, gray, etc.), as if each one were a separate .package file. The actual color swatches represent the different hair styles (light, heavier, curly, etc.), and each contains all the body hair (torso, arms, legs, back) in a single layer, categorized as torso body hair.
Should I then, using the original file, first create a standalone package for each color (blonde, black, gray, etc.) to make separate packages, recategorize them, and then mask the corresponding body hair area on the diffuse? And do this for each body hair category?

I tried the method and ran a preliminary test, but it didn’t work. I created a standalone package using the original file and managed to select only one color model (blonde) at a time, which contains the actual swatches representing the different levels of body hair. However, it resulted in a glitch where the Sim appeared with a red and white checkered pattern and question marks. Heres the link for the file: www.patreon.com/posts/body-hair-fix-95855609

This pattern means the game cannot locate referenced resources, which is why the original package must be in both mods folders If you actually want to edit textures, then everything must be done differently: - open the original package with My projects; - Tools - Studio - Export all; - Tools - Color palette - Import palette; - open photopea, download this file and open it there; - File - Open&place - select Swatch_1_Diffuse_1, Shift-select Swatch_22_Diffuse_1, place; - select Swatch_1_Diffuse_1, Shift-select Swatch_22_Diffuse_1, group them; - select an area you want to remain ( arms, for example ), click on Add raster mask; - hide the background layer and File - Export layers, unchecking all those options. Photopea will output each layer as a separate image, preserving names, which is important. Do not close this tab; - clone maxis arm hair, Tools - Studio - Export all. If you named the package Armhair, s4s will create a folder named ArmhairResources in the same location. In this folder you need to extract your edited textures from the downloaded zip file, overwriting the original one(s); - Tools - Palette - Apply palette to package; - Tools - Studio - Import all. Now this is a standalone package that contains only the arm area of the texture; - go back to photopea, click on the raster mask and drag it onto the bin. Select a new area of the texture, click on Add raster mask, export layers, create a new package in a different category, export, apply the palette, import etc

Right, I'm trying to follow your tutorial here. I started using Photoshop, but I've already noticed some differences in the process, so I'll try using Photopea as you suggested.
However, right at the beginning, under - Tools - Studio - Export all, only one color is being exported, even though all of them are present in the original .package file.

It can be done in photoshop as well (it’s somewhere in File - Scripts, if my memory serves me well), but is a bit more straightforward in photopea
Are you sure it’s the original original file? I downloaded the first package. Try downloading it as well and exporting

Yes! I just downloaded the file again and exported it, but once again, only one color was exported. I think Ill have to do it color by color.
Anyway, I think I’ve somewhat understood the process and will try to adapt it a bit to see if it works more simply with the files I’ve already modified. I’m feeling hopeful now! I'll report back here if it works.
Thank you very much!

Do you have star or aurora? Is it the latest? Maybe it is a bug, cause I could export it just fine

Hey, just wanted to update—I got everything working! Thanks so much for the instructions, they were a big help. It ended up being a bit more work than I was hoping, but I think it was the only way, and I picked up some useful knowledge for future projects. The CC is running perfectly, exactly how I wanted. Thanks again!
