This advert is running a lot on the channels I watch at the moment (Big Bang, CSI everything, Bones, yup, you got the idea). Every time I see it it I think of us, creators of bits and bobs that make us all happy. I'm a total squint (odd, geek, nerd, etc) and I love making things to play with and sharing them. Today I realised while on a download spree that I no longer accept objects that have a don't do anything to me TOU.
This made me think, I learnt to make things by reverse engineering other peoples work. I'm sorry but its true. On reflection its no different to re- releasing a song or “updating” a classic painting, dying and sewing patches on a pair of Levis or Armani jeans, we stand on the shoulders of the greats, and if we are really good others can't steal and get away with it because the goods are so widespread and well known. If not then why worry? If the basics of our lives had been copyrighted or patented, forks would be very expensive, and we would probably still be watching Shakespeare due to all the other writers having tied up their goods for eternity so to speak.
For me creativity is a wonderful gift that others share and so inspire me to make something new or different in that vein. I don't always have the skills to make my own mesh, so to speak, but occasionally I do have the flash of inspiration that may bring a new object into the virtual and real world.
So for me, this year and onwards I will try to share, like Kooper, just to make others happy. Even if it means risking a mesh I spent 50 hours swearing over. Who knows someone may be way better than me and make something out it that stops me in my tracks.

Thank you to all of the creators here and else where that have shared knowledge, objects and meshes for squints like me to play with and present to the master with a “look what I done” face.
A very Happy New Year to you all
