Click Tools, select Modding, pick Glass Shader (CAS). Note: you can be on the model viewer page when you do this...you do not have to return to the main page to use this feature.

Hi orangemittens, is there a particular tutorial this tip could link to? I want to try hair modding but am just getting started in understanding all the aspects. IIRC the glass shader (and SimGlass?) is required to give the hair the look of strands instead of the blocky appearance of Maxis default hairs.

The tutorials Studio has which concern CAS meshing are, for the most part, not concerned with hair meshing in particular but with the process of meshing for CAS in general. I wrote a minitutorial going over the components of Sims 4 hair that would be a good place to start. Laracroftfan1 has written 2 more advanced tutorials both of which discuss the use of the glass shader for making hair. Brujah's tutorial on weight transfer is helpful as are the tutorials on unwrapping for the second UV written by UntraditionalNerd and Laracroftfan1. There are several very good tutorials that show how to mesh a hair using Blender that are not Sims 4 specific but go over the basic hair meshing process. If you cannot locate any on the internet I can recommend a couple.

The tutorial is on the Full Index page, and it's called "Components of a Sims 4 hair" under CAS meshing tutorials. However, it is for version 1.0.9.8, and I'm not sure if it's still accurate. I'm certainly no expert.

Hi unassumingobelisk, the tutorial is still accurate. Although the user-interface for CAS in Studio has changed a little the components of an EA hair remain the same.
