I'm also a "Blender Dummy" :D I was wondering, if I could use an maxis clock mesh then make it bigger in Blender and import it back as a round painting base? I didn't see any circular paintings in The Sims 4, if I'm wrong please let me know.

Yeah could work and it's a clever idea, but because it's a clock and not a static painting you probably have to do a little more than scale it, like remove the vertex group that makes the clock move. Definitely give it a shot though!

Thank you for the heads up about vertex groups, Spirashun. I think I saw a round mirror, maybe I can try that first, either way, I will give it a try.

A better way of doing this would be to find a round object you like and export the mesh then clone a panting the size you want and export that. Now in blender open first the panting mesh and then append the round mesh. Scale it to the size you want and place it in the center of the panting mesh. Now go into the panting group in edit mode and delete the mesh. Now join the circular mesh into that empty group. Save and import back into the painting package. Change your texture and don't forget to change the normal map and specular.
The other way posted above would require you to change the footprint, tuning and other stuff.

In Sims 4 clocks are decorative items that have no moving parts. The tuning they have is deco no view wall (for the wall clocks). I think the biggest drawback to using one as your clone is that they have a glass front that would give the painting that sort of misty front that the EA clocks have. If that doesn't bother you a clock would be ideal as is.
If that bothered you you could just clone a clock and clone a painting, export the LODs from the clock, remove the glass front from those LODs, and then use them to replace the painting mesh. If you go that route be sure to keep the cut numbers in the clock.blends matched up with the cut numbers of the painting meshes you're replacing.

Hey, thank you much for all the feedback, D4S and Orangemittens, very much appreciated. Yeah, that misty front is something I would want to avoid especially since I'm recoloring and using artists artwork.
MisterS - *jumps* around like a cheerleader , would be awesome if you found that file! Thank you.

jkaliszew I've had the very same Idea, but for a Voyager Golden Disc version ( I have one made in a frame, but I want a round disc mesh to make a real one ) I suck so much at blender, but from what I read here, I only need to find a mesh import it and append it etc. Would this tutorial apply here? www.sims4studio.com/thread/826/create-object-mesh-package-existingAnd how would I easily find a round/disc simple mesh, or do one easily? Anyone with a solution, I'll refer your name for the Pullitzer or whatnot!

OMG ironleo - yay, I have tried so far one attempt and failed when importing back to S4S, I do expect some error before sucess, but if you make a round base that can be used for a painting that would be.... AMAZING!

AMAZING! I got another small project to finish and I'm on it, I will update you and send it your way if I succeed/find a way. ( How about the round rugs? we could modify those to cling on the wall, then it's easy just to scale it down in blender )

Hey jkaliszew, I just did my first working circular disc mesh, you can use it as you like, the UV Map is not perfect but I included an example if you want to re-use it, I can also re-size it on demand link
