Sorry it's taken so long to post this. As none of these files are mine and I don't really see anything as far as attaching packages/zips, I'll be linking to the posts where I got the files. Unfortunately, I don't think any of these are going to be easy one-size-fits-all batch fixes but I'll explain what I'm looking at and let the experts decide - you guys do way too good of work at pulling off the impossible.
First up: BustedPixels
non-default natural hair colors (link is for base game only). All original base game female hairs in 17 new colors that don't overwrite any of EA's and all in one merged file. Matching color pallets for all hair styles - just like EA. Problem? There are two hairs - one color in one hair style, a different color in a second hair style that don't match ANYthing else. They're
close to what they should be but as it's not an exact match, when you're clicking through styles in either of those colors you suddenly switch back to EA's black (which is what the game's supposed to do).
What would be
nice to fix this is some kind of pallet-checker that would do a count of all color swatches in a file/folder, list them and the number of each along with a quick link to the associated swatches so that any accidents/mistypes can be easily fixed. As that's a detailed headache that's gonna take several versions to figure out (if it's even feasible in the first place), being able to sort CAS parts by swatch color in the Warehouse tab would probably go a long way to being able to easily correct these issues.
Second up: lottidiezweite's
non-default unnatural hair colors (again, link is for base game only). Like BP's all base game hairs in new colors. Unlike BP's ALL of the colors on all of the hairs match perfectly, so no problems there. However, I'd like to move the SecondaryDisplayIndex for the colors to the 500 range so that they fall after BustedPixels and
NikSims (right now, they're kinda mixed in with both). Also, not sure how much it really matters in game but my mild OCD streak is having issues with all the swatches having a
Hair Color of "White" when they're anything but and while they're all unnatural hair colors, several of them could fall under the Green/Turquoise/Hot Pink tags.
Examples here would be: Swatch Color #D2CBB9 changed to SecondaryDisplayIndex 501; Swatch Color #A78AA8 changed to SecondaryDisplayIndex 515 and Hair Color "Purple Pastel"; Swatch Color #FD829E changed to SecondaryDisplayIndex 517 and Hair Color "Hot Pink"; Swatch Color #AF2B43 changed to SecondaryDisplayIndex 504; etc.
From a user's perspective and trying to get the most "bang for buck", some way of saying "if swatch color x, change resource y to value z" would be perfect - even if users have to run the command multiple times to get all changes. Example running the command to update SecondaryDisplayIndex then again to update Hair Color. This would be especially nice if the swatch color "filter" accommodates those instances where the item has duel/tri-colored swatch thumbnails.
While this next one isn't a hair color issue, it could greatly benefit from the above 'if swatch/change resource' cheat. Thumpbunny's
Pubic Hairs on SexySims (warning: not work safe images): Four styles of pubic hair for the ladies in ten colors all in
one single icon under Tattoo->Lower Back (TattooTorsoBackLower according to Studio). What I want to do with those is: 1st, recategorize them for TattooTorso
FrontLower (so they can be used with more actual tattoos); 2nd, separate each style into it's own icon/cas entry so when in game there would be four thumbnails side by side instead of everything under one; and 3rd, change the duel/tri-colored swatches for styles 2 - 4 to single colors as they will now be in their own catalog entry and won't need the duel/tri color to differentiate between styles. (Hope that ramble made sense.
)
Something I just thought of while typing this that I'm not sure how feasible it is, but would be a major help for batch editing (especially in conjunction with a sort-by-swatch-color ability). In the Warehouse tab, when selecting multiple CAS Part (or Object Catalog) entries, being able to quickly and easily edit the same resource for all selected entries. Yes, there's the "Apply To All Swatches" buttons on several places in the Studio Tab but there are still several instances where the Apply All either isn't available or using it isn't really feasible. An example of not really feasible would be a merged fie with several recolors of a Base Game shirt. Some of the recolors have red in them, some varying shades of gray, some don't have either color so while, yes, you could use the Apply To All Swatches for the Red or Gray colors - you've have to do more work later to clear those tags on non-Red/Gray recolors.
An example of Apply To All not being available is the Outfit Type. Say you've downloaded several new
piercings for your simmies. As EA hasn't really given us anything other than earrings, most of these CC piercings are either cloned from a ring or earrings - and still categorized as such. Thing is? Studio lists Brow Rings, Lip Rings and Nose Rings - left and right for all - as valid Outfit Types. And items categorized as these types show up in the facial accessories tab in CAS - they don't have a sub-filter like earrings or glasses but all Nose Ring (Left) are grouped together and the CAS camera more or less centers in on that area of the face. It's just that to currently recategorize these piercings, you've got to go swatch by swatch (either Studio tab or Warehouse) and change the Outfit Type. If you're wanting to recategorize tattoos (like Thumpbunny's above) or skin overlays (like
Zerbu's), the Body Type isn't available on the Studio tab and the only way to change things is via the Warehouse tab. And there are several tattoo and face detail categories listed in S4S that either aren't used by the game right now (ie SkinDetailMoleLip
Right) or aren't used for that gender (ie males don't have anything categorized for lower back).
And as my train of thought has been completely blown for now, I'll post this minor essay
- did
not mean to post a frigging essay trying to cover this. Sorry about that.
