You can ask in the Creator Help section, also it would be easier for someone to take a look if you post the .package of the file you are having trouble.

Thanks for responding, mathcope. It doesn't seem like an S4S problem, but a Photoshop problem, which is why I posted here. Here's the package and here's a PSD. My son's a graphic designer and he doesn't see why it shouldn't be nice enough to look better in CAS though.

Merry927 I took a look at PSD and see that the layer with lip texture is pixelated itself (zoomed 500%). As I see you used existing texture, made it darker and changed layer blending options? I would suggest to fill this layer with one color and try changing blending option to overlay or multiply (or any other) and change opacity of the top layer. Also, if you were talking about contour of the lipstick, you can try to soften the edges with eraser with soft edges. Currently I work on a lipstick and also went through different trials and errors. So these are the options that worked for me. And the last one. I noticed that sometimes it's much better to change colors via selective colors option or hue/saturation than adding another layer on the top, everything depends on the texture and your goals. If you want to keep shininess of the texture, I would change the color via selective colors, hue/saturation, levels, curves, brightness/contrast (and some other options in Image tab in PC). But if you want achieve matte look, new layer with multiply blending is a good solution. I tried to change the color of your texture via selective colors and slightly soften the edges (just a little). You can soften even more and it will look good depending on the texture of sims skin. And sometimes the lipstick that looks fabulous in S4S looks just plain in the game due to different rendering I guess. Here is zoomed picture of your top layer. See the pixels? Basically when you add this layer on the top of another layer the edge of the lipstick becomes even more pixelated because semi-transparent pixels on the edge overlay each other, and without the top layer texture looks softer.
Dark lines on the bottom of the lip is the main texture. If you don't like them, you need to place these lines following the shape of the mouth on the main sims texture or just smooth them down with clone tool (I would try to do it). Personally I think that you (maker) don't need to make defined middle line between lips on the texture, usually it's covered by top lip so it's never seen. Moreover, if it's placed incorrectly it creates weird lines on the lips. I hope it helped.

Also wanted to show you what can happen with good looking in S4S texture in the game due to different rendering. I was super disappointed to learn that it looks totally different so I made a conclusion that less highlights on the texture will look better in the game. I mean more color instead of highlights looks better. Look at the difference between pinkish and red lipstick and it's the same texture. And also some lipsticks will look better on full lips, another lipsticks will look better on small lips so if you plan to upload your creation somewhere, play with the shape of the model's lips. It doesn't mean cheating to achieve better looking results. No, it only means that it will look better on similar shape of the lips. I never seen universal lipstick that looks good on all sims. And also do you see slightly sort of pixelated texture on the right side of the lipstick (in S4S)? It's the main texture of the sim's lip is showing, but it looks good on another skintone in the game. Edit. 10/16/16. The texture looks different in the game when the composition method set to 4. When it's set to 0, it looks exactly as in S4S. I discovered it later. But it still can be a useful information for people who see a different result in the game than in the program. Here is an information and screenshot where to edit the number.
