Hi! I'm working on a skirt at the moment. It has this weird shadow on it, and I can't find what's causing it. It's not the texture, which I've edited to make sure that that section of the skirt is bright and even in colour: I've also edited the DST Image (making sure I edited the alpha as well), so that there isn't any texture on the section on the corner of the overlap at all. I've also looked at the RLE2 Image, but it only marks out a shadow underneath the mesh, there is nothing on it that would create a shadow on the mesh. I've gone through everything that I can think of that would create a shadow on the mesh, and I'm not sure what else would be causing that shadow. You can download the package file here. Hey there, So let me see if I understand your situation: So you have imported your texture into S4S and have noticed that there is a strange shadow on the texture. You've also checked the bump map to see if that is the source of the strange shadow but you could not find anything out of the ordinary. I am currently downloading S4S to take a look at your package file as I am not on my computer at the moment :( (it's broken and I'm currently looking to buy a new one). I should be done with your query in an hour at the most, depending on how my Internet acts. I shall get back to you once I have looked at the package

hi! if the shadow isn't on the texture then i'm pretty sure it is on the mesh. Every time you export something from s4s, the shadows/edges gets "broken". What i suggest when editing meshes, is taking a look at it on object mode, with solid view and smooth shade. this way, you're going to see exactly how is going to look in game. To remove the shadow, please take a look at this tutorial.

To remove the shadow, please take a look at this tutorial. I think you may be right, but for some reason when I select the settings you've shown in Blender, my mesh doesn't look like what you've got? I've selected Smooth Shading, but there doesn't appear to be any shade on my mesh

For reference, with those options selected, my mesh looks like this: I'll try the tutorial you linked and see if it fixes the problem.

Would you mind sharing the .blend you're using so that i can take a look at it? I have the .package file linked in the original post, I thought that the mesh could be exported out of that to be looked at? I didn't realise that the .blend file needed to be uploaded as well. But I am happy to upload the .blend file as well, I'll go and do that now.

I checked the file, exported .blend from package and took a look in blender. I noticed that some vertices on UV not merged and tried moving that part where you get the shadow, saved the blend, imported back to S4S and suddenly got the same weird shadow on the side of the skirt where the seams are. I noticed that vertices on the right side not merged, welded them, imported the .blend in S4S and shadow disappeared. But I would share the blend and wait what Inabadromance says because I am new to blender. P.s. While I've been typing you started a conversation . I am outta here as helper but will stay to read about solution. P.p.s The skirt is very very cute.

inabadromance I'm astounded, but the tutorial you linked fixed it! I had no idea that shadows could be on the meshes themselves - making CC is a constant learning process! I would never have thought of looking at the mesh itself. Thank you so much for your help! :D

Thank you, I am still a bit of a noob in Blender - I've pretty much only used edit mode to edit EA meshes and make them into something new. As I said in a comment above, the tutorial you linked fixed the problem. Thank you so much for your help, I've learned so much about Blender and the nature of meshes!
