I made a torn (sort of) Filthy white female shirt recolor for our poor honest female sim who would rather starve to death than cheat. LOL (I removed the pocket of the original shirt by kind of retouching the dds file. Because who needs pocket when you don't have money? ) Download Here: Torn Filthy White Female Shirt Recolor

Wow, that dirty shirt...
The pocket in the screenshot still kind of shows though, I think you might need to edit the bump texture, it's somewhere in the Warehouse tab. It should be easy, most likely you just need to paint over the pocket with a medium grey color. You should know what I'm talking about when you export that texture and open it. Maybe there is a tutorial here somewhere...
That dirty look reminds me of my Sims 3 homeless sim. She lived in Twinbrook in an empty lot and wandered around the neighborhood everyday, rummaging through neighbors' trash. Found brand new VR goggles in Sofia Carlton's garbage multiple times (sells for 9500 simoleons if i remember correctly). that spoiled rich girl! But the most outrageous thing I found out was that many neighbors were throwing away teddy bears! So my sim never got a job, instead went on a never ending quest to save all teddy bears from landfills. I had quite a collection.

paika Yes I noticed in the game that the pocket still shows through ( but not in photo shop). I actually first made a ripped shirt and it looked great ( poverty level great) in photo shop but when i import the DDS to studio 4 it's not ripped, it shows the white background. I don't know what to do so I just aborted the project hahaha by the way your sim story is so funny and interesting

can someone please teach me here how to make a transparent recolor using photoshop cs 5 as the 2d editor? because I can't seem to save as DDS without first flattening the image, and when I flatten, the transparency is removed I tried to follow orangemittens' tutorial but I don't think photoshop was used there so I was not able to follow correctly the instructions. Thanks in Advanced anyone?.

Maya you don't have to "flatten" the image just merge layers.

Please help. what should I do? what am I doing wrong? anyone?

Paint.net automatically applies the alpha channel to be visible and I'm unsure at this point how to make PS do the same with .dds files. I will do some research and get back to you. Until then do you mind sharing the image you are trying to work on? Also you need to make sure you're saving as dxt5 interpolated alpha.

brujah thank you so much for bearing with my idiocy, you're very kind. however I finally figured out what I was doing wrong! THANK GOD FOR THIS MIRACLE!! I have to unclick the alpha channel before I can save as a transparent DDS layer! WOOHOO!!
