Hello everyone!
I read necrodogs tutorial on custom food, and Anska's tutorial on making food items appear in the buy catalog, however I am still having problems with both in sims 4 studio. I had an error on the buy catalog one (Anka's). I did everyone according to the tutorial and it gave me an error for the food chemistry in Sim Date. In Necrodog's tutorial, I had problems getting it to show up in game. Nothing appeared on any custom meal menu or EA one.
I realize it is kind of a long shot, but I wondered if anyone would be willing to do a step by step tutorial on how to make custom recipes. I am trying to make custom desserts. I have the textures - it is just a recolor for now, but I can't get it to show up in game in custom meals. I would appreciate any help. Thank you very much.
-Laurenbell
P.S If I can figure this out, our sims will be eating more custom desserts!

Hey Lauren, I somehow missed your answer in the other thread when I checked the forum last time. As I wrote there, a link to your actual package would make it a lot easier for me to help you. I am unfortunately not very good at reading error-logs, but it seems you entered a wrong number in the SimData file at some point - however I can only guess at which unless I can compare the numbers in your package with each other. =) Edit: to link to your package, you must upload it somewhere, dropbox or onedrive for example, and then link to it. Orangemittens kindly wrote a tutorial for that too.

Thank you so much for helping Anska, I appreciate it very much. I think I found where I may have been getting it wrong. During the tooltips input in Object tuning and recipe tuning i am thoroughly confused in what to do - as well as when you copy and paste the food chemistry into Simdata - I cannot not save after that it gives me errors. I will send a link to the package, maybe I did it completely wrong who knows or maybe I got a few things right lol, I would love some deed back (: and thank you very much for helping once again. Here it is: www.dropbox.com/s/tae24kretjkfmne/cupcake%20deck%20the%20halls%20tutorial%201.package?dl=0

Hey Lauren, the SimData is a b... female dog, it prevents saving due to the smallest errors. It's always one of the very last things I touch.
From looking at your package the first thing I notice is, that you only made a single cupcake. The little giftbox in my tutorial is set to generate a large group serving of something, not the single portion. So if you really only wish to make one cupcake, you will have to change the 15323<!--Servings_LargeUntouched--> to 15113<!--Consumable_Untouched-->.
But first things first: Your package is missing the actual recipe tuning. You have two object tunings (Anska:object_foodchemistry_single and laurenbell:object_food_redvelvet_cupcake_single) but no recipe tuning. The SimData relates to the recipe tuning, not to the object tuning, so feeding it with information from the object tuning won't do.
Secondly, you did not generate a 32bit Instance number (B9E3D8FF2FCBA377 would be your Instance) but a 64bit one. 64bit is generally better for custom content, however it won't do for recipes and you will absolutely have to generate a 32bit Instance for the single serving to make is available in restaurants. For this reason, please don't start your package by creating a recolour but by choosing "Selective Clone" in Studio's start screen. Select the cupcake you wish to recolour and when the pop-up menu prompts you to "Customize Object Clone" check: Textures (for your actual recolour), Strings (for renaming the cupcake), Definitions and Catalogs (to modify the tuning) and also make sure the "renumber" and "Use 32-bit instances" box are checked. Then create your package, import a recipe and an object tuning into your package and make your modifications. For the group serving, do the same but leave the "Use 32-bit instances" box unchecked this time.
If you run into a problem following the tutorial from that point on, feel free to ask again.

I have been cranking out foods and wrote a text file with step by step instructions, but I only have base game, so it may not be the help you need. New here so not sure how to post something like that - copying and pasting it here seems like a no no.

If you have a tutorial you can open a thread for it in the tutorial section for tuning mods. =) That you only have the basegame doesn't matter either, there are some special features that you probably cannot use, but the recipe files themselves apparently get basegame-patched with every expansion. For example you should also see the line making a dish vegetarian food in your recipe tunings without actually being able to create a vegetarian sim.
