Can someone walk me through stbl? How are we supposed to know how many files that come with an object?

If you're referring to the String Table resources, could you be a bit more specific about what you're trying to accomplish? If you aren't referring to the String Table resources could you explain what you are referring to? No one here uses the term "stbl."

I feel that if you were a little more specific about what you want to create and achieve it would help us in trying to guide you. Have you read the "Object tuning tutorials" on this tutorials' list?

Yeah, that video covers some stuff but it's using s4pe, not Sims 4 studio, so we can't help you with that. There's a tutorial named : "How to change the in-game text used in a tuning mod" and it's on the list i linked you previously. Overall, the video is very educative. Even though it's another program, the information is all the same. Plus it explains step by step and in depth about each of the things you're seeing on screen. Doesn't get better than that and it's what you're asking for.

It does, and I'm sure its fairly easy. So what I'm wondering is, can you use s4s to change text? Does it have to be for tuning? Its kinda hard to try to find the info on what you need to tune.

s4s can do anything (that i know) as far as that tutorial go. Instead of opening the file with s4pe, you open it with s4s. If you read the comments on the video, he took the time to manually look for the strings he wanted to edit. That's what you usually do, look for textures manually for example. Once you pinpoint the string you want, you edit it.

Hi SimmaFierce, yes, you can use Sims 4 Studio to change in-game text. You could do the project described in the video using Sims 4 Studio. Is that what you're trying to do or were you looking at that tutorial because you have some other project that you want to do that is similar?

That project isn't a tuning mod per se. It's an override of game file string table resources. Basically what you're doing is finding the string tables of interest, adding them to a new .package, and then editing their text. The particular override in that tutorial will result in all in-game radios showing radio stations instead of music genres. Studio can do this as well as any other tool, but currently, no matter what tool you're using atm this is going to be a bit tedious because no tool searches the string tables adequately. Hunting down all the strings you need to edit for your mod will be a painful secretarial job. Studio can update to include this kind of searching, and once it's updated, I'll write a tutorial showing how to do it.

Hi SimmaFierce , I made a video tutorial about changing text too after learning how to do it using Andrew's great written tutorial. The thing I've added in my video is the process before being at the point of having the tuning resources in you pacakge file. Maybe you can try that one too. It should work on almost every object in game, I say almost because MisterS tried it on the cooler which for some reason didn't work. How to change in-game (interaction) textI noticed my tutorial is missing from that Tutorial index page, but you can already find it in my own Video Tutorial Index page. Maybe orangemittens can add the missing video tutorial to her total tutorial index too.
