Hi there guys, still new to this so sorry if this a very stupid question.
I have only done some basic recolors of clothing and build objects to see if I can at least get the basics down without breaking anything :P
I just wanted to know if there is a difference between exporting/importing texture files in .dds or .png format?
Is one format better to use than the other? Does one give better quality results than the other? Or is a certain format better for certain types of projects? Anything a long those lines that I should know?
There doesn't really seem to be any info regarding what file format to use written into tutorials or really much mention of it on forums, from all my searching I could only deduct that the option to use .png is something that hasn't always been available to use with Sims 4 Studio?
I last created things for Sims 2 and I do not remember ever seeing .dds format back then so not entirely sure what exactly it is/what the difference is
.
I'm not averse to learning about/using it though, if it's the better practice? Rather that then getting used to using .png because it's what I'm familiar with only to discover somewhere down the line that .dds is required/gives better results for more complex projects...
