Hi all, since Sims 4 Studio (Jackpot) was retired, there have been many people moving to Sims 4 Studio (Harmony). Some of those people have encountered unexpected errors when trying to run Studio or have been unable to get Studio to open. Studio (Harmony) uses features that require the latest version of the .NET Framework. People using Win 10 and Win 8.1 will notice no difference. However, people using old versions of Windows, including XP, Vista, and 7, may encounter problems if their .NET Framework is not updated to allow their computer to use these newer .NET Framework features.
While we're committed to keeping Studio compatible with outdated versions of Windows (to the best of our ability), we cannot keep Studio compatible with these outdated systems if those systems are not being kept updated. If you're having trouble getting Studio to run on an outdated version of Windows, please run a Windows update on your system. Several members have already reported success just running an isolated single .NET Framework update. A full Windows update is free and should help even more people.
People have also reported issues using Blender 2.78 with Studio. The problem usually occurs as a mesh that doesn't show up in Blender after being exported from a .package. If this has happens to you, please uninstall Blender 2.78 and install Blender 2.70. This should solve the problem. If you need the functionality of Blender 2.78, you can use 2.70 as a bridge to 2.78. What this entails is having Blender 2.70 installed to perform the mesh export only. Once the .blend has been exported, you can open it directly in 2.78, work on it, save the .blend, and import that .blend directly back into Studio. The problem occurs only during the actual export of the mesh from the .package.
The reason why some people can use Blender 2.78 to export meshes from Studio while others cannot is under investigation. Blender is a quirky and occasionally system-dependent application. We'll do our best to make it so everyone can use a newer version of Blender than 2.70 - work is ongoing.
