I'm having the same problem! It's happened for the past 3 items I've made, so I can't put my overlay on it.

I'm having the same problem with some older CC items where the thumbnail shows up in game but not in S4S. By using S4pe you can extract the thumbnail, so it definitely is included in the package

Hi, all! Sorry for necroposting, but I just wanted to share a potential resolution to this problem:
Check to see if your Sims 4 Documents path is set correctly in Sims 4 Studio!
I had to change computers and had to re-install all my cc-making stuff, and I guess I completely forgot to set up my file paths correctly, so Sims 4 Studio wasn't detecting the localthumbnail cache that had the game-generated thumbnails, which was why they were still coming up blank.
