Hi! Please check that the amount of mesh groups with their respective cut numbers are the same as the original cloned hair. Hairs have 3 mesh groups, your blend has to have that amount too.
If you're still unsure, please share the blend file.

I personally can't see anything wrong at first sight. The vertex paint color is a bit off and darker than it should. Use hex 00FF00 instead. What i would do is go into edit mode for each mesh group, select all the mesh and recalculate. Save and test with that blend.

as I've mentioned before each cut represents a different state.there's a mesh group in your blend that looks like that. please check your groups individually and see that each cut number matches the original blend hair state.
