Hi! Please share the .blend files as well. If you're using a version of blender that isn't 2.70 please remember to do the "clean" explained on the weight transfer tutorial. If you're still having issues, please use 2.70 instead.

Hello! I won't be at my computer until later tonight to add the blend files!!! I just wanted to add that I am using blender 2.70 and I tried a weight transfer! Also both items are a "frankenmesh" so I did not touch the weights that originally existed as they should have been correct! I also tried remaking the lace dress but then the hand was doing the same "spikey" glitch. Sorry about the rant I'm just going insane!!! I've made a ton of clothing and never had this issue.

I see! then it's probably not a with issue per se. the game doesn't like it when you change parts around into a group that they don't belong to. if try cloning a different mesh like a short dress or the nightwear corset outfit and fit your mesh into any of those two (you'll have to see export the original meshes to check that groups and cuts match).

I'm not sure I'm understanding what "fix" you're asking for. if you clone the items I suggested then you have to export the base game mesh, append your clothing pieces from your current blend and join them accordingly. is there a step in particular you're having trouble with?

I did not understand at first but I did the second time you explained, I tried cutting it different ways and putting it over several meshes both in blender and in sims 4 studio just in case and I still can't figure out why it's not working. Specifically I took the "bridesmaids" dress from base game and put each part of my dress over it but for some reason the skirt still does that crazy thing, on a different mesh the skirt looked great but the hand was doing the exploding thing. I did try the corset and nightgown for the solid dress because making it one geom cut was an option but it still didn't work. I'm adding another photo. photo: www.dropbox.com/s/o429e9sfxfjw0ke/TS4_x64%202017-10-25%2023-19-05.png?dl=0

I re cloned the cocktail dress you used and exported the mesh. If you open both blends and compare them you'll notice that the mesh groups names and their cut numbers are mixed up. Example: EA's mesh_1 (0000) is the last part of the leg. In your blend, mesh_1 (0003) is the top part of the body. Please try re arranging your mesh groups's names and cut numbers to match the original package.

I'm back! so the original mesh had the top, upper leg, lower leg and the "strap" as geom cuts so i appended my top and replaced the original top with mine by deleting the vertices of the original one and then appending mine. I was unsure of what to do with the transparent skirt so i replaced the halter strap with the transparent skirt, but when i import the mesh the transparent skirt does not appear. I also did the same thing with the base game maxi dress and that did not work either. I feel like I'm missing something and I really appreciate you bearing with me.
