Long shot here, I am typically tech savy, but ran into a SERIOUS problem that can affect the health of my computer. I have TWO versions of Sims 4 Studios on my computer, but at first need immediate help with Sims 4 Studio Wishes (3.1.0.1) Somehow, this version got installed on my desktop. When trying to remove the file (for updating), I do not have any rights to remove it. I DO know how to access the permissions to unlock files, and I even tried the command prompt route to delete it. No luck. I mistakenly allowed someone to use McAFee to shred the file to try to delete. Now, it has deleted everything from the Sims 4 Studio Wishes (3.1.0.1) folder on the desktop except the actual folder itself and this file. I believe I can try to troubleshot some more, but I need to be able to redownload version Sims 4 Studio Wishes (3.1.0.1) unto m y desktop to replace the broken folder already there, and then from there try to figure out how to safely remove BOTH old versions from my computer.

its fine if you have two versions just run wishes and it accesses the sims 4 studio file in your documents that is unaffected by the program itself. if you have A SECOND folder, just delete Sims 4 Studio (1) it's basically useless as it's a copy of the files.
The only way the s4s can be installed is if you install it
You can find the file you are referring to is in your trash most likely. but again Sims 4 Studio in documents is just a place all versions refer to for info, you don't have to delete it every update. if you go to control panel > programs> uninstall > and uninstall both versions then reinstall a fresh version of sims 4 studio wishes that should fix things
----- IF this doesn't fix the issue reply back with photos and more detail thank you.

karleeta012 I don't think you can install anything to desktop in general. Not sure what is preventing from deleting files from desktop. However, there is a zip version of Studio which could be unzipped to desktop. You can copy and paste entire folder to any location and use it without installing. Version 3.1.0.1 is outdated, therefore it is not available for download anymore. Current version is 3.1.0.3.

There is a utilty called unlocker. It used to be good then it went to poo with adware (well ad supported) then it got old and never updated. However the wife has a version of it her laptop, it took her ages to find but she cannot remember where but this looks like it. Cedrick Collomb is the original author like they are saying www.filecroco.com/download-unlockerBecause I have a version installed I cannot check it to find out, I did download it and scan it and its fine. Just right click on the folder in question and select unlocker, I have not found I file yet it wont get rid of it.

This is the folder I was talking about. When first downloaded, it was saved (through the unzip file) to the desktop. I also have another version of sims4studio currently in my documents that cannot be deleted either. I was able to delete the majority of this file through the McAFee shredder but was left with this file that cannot be deleted or moved. imgur.com/a/Rqb0e

Hey there, if you look at the post above there is a link to a program that will help a ton. I have used it many times for some tricky files in the past. Good luck hope it works for you.

I was able to use it to delete one of the sims4studios (jackpot) that was in my documents, but I still can't use it to delete this pesky messed up Wishes folder on my desktop.

SOLVED!
I wasn't able to delete regularly through safe mode, but I could remove it using unlocker via safe mode. Thank you!

Wow! Such a challenge! What OS do you use? I wonder why did it happen. Nothing too fancy, just Windows 10. I've never had this problem before with any other files, and I went through every *normal* step I could possibly think of to gain access to this in order to remove it. It didn't cross my mind to use another 3rd party program to remove a 3rd party program lol.
