I'm trying to make my custom lipstick into a matte. Each time I do it with the base game lipstick I comes out regular but I don't like how shiny the regular one is. There is a CC in my game that I've downloaded that is matte and would like mine to look like theirs. Any help on how to make my custom lipstick matte? I've includes photos of mine and my Photoshop screen as well as the person's that I would like to have mine similar to. Images: prntscr.com/hdkno2prntscr.com/hdknw1prntscr.com/hdknye

hi! the specular controls the shine not the diffuse. if you already know how matte you want it to be you can export both speculars (yours and the cc) and compare the textures. speculars need to be saved as .dds.

Ok so I did what a tutorial said for the speculars. I saved it as a dds in photoshop with dxt5 compressed... and I opened them in photoshop btw and saw there was a black shadow thing on the speculars so I deleted it and on the mask I colored it in, in all black but it still is shiny? Here are some more images. prntscr.com/hdtyimprntscr.com/hdu0l2i compared my speculars with the cc i would like mine too look like and the speculars are the exact same.

It looks like the speculars are no issue, they're good (no specular at all). The problem is that your lipstick contains some transparency, which allows the highlights of the skintone to shine through. Try switching skintones to be sure. The solution might be removal of transparency in your lipstick diffuse. You can also clone the original one you found on the internet. Put the package in the Documents\Sims 4 Studio\Mods folder and you can clone it with S4S. Avoid introducing any transparency when editing the diffuse.

I made the lips with no transparency now and it is still shiny in CAS.

Also, I have put the CC in the mods folder and opened it in S4S but I want to know how to make it matte as an original. This lipstick is matte and their diffuse is transparent too.

Please follow this guide and change all composition methods to 0. Don't blank the specular, keep the one you shared on this thread and let us know.

I have one question tho, what is BodySubType. I was comparing the CC's warehouse data to mine and the CC has theirs set to 4 on the bodysubtype,

I'm glad it's working properly now . I have no idea what that is. maybe Feyona knows about it?

I have no idea about what is it for either... But to my knowing it doesn't affect texture shininess and other texture parameters.
