I saw a "fix" for the shadow going through the objects but it requires changing game files in notepad and I'd like to avoid messing with that as much as possible, i just don't want to mess anything up even though it looks simple I don't feel confident doing things I won't understand how to fix if I make a mistake. Is a batch fix for these items a possiblity to fix the shadow or are these items permanently ruined unless their creator updates them. I can't say a lot of the items I have have it they do not but enough of them have it to make me wonder about a solution because I don't want to really ditch these items, the ones broken just oh so happens to be items whose creators either don't update for stuff like this or just arent playiny/creating anymore. Anyway just throwing the question out there.

My girlfriend is experiencing the very same issue, and with almost 2000 mods, it would take forever to find and redownload all the broken ones, and hope they have been updated. I hope there can be a fix for this issue.

I've got the same problem with some of my mods and even with some of the meshes for the game itself. I hope EA will fix this at some point as many people are complaining about it. I'm also not going to change the gamefiles, just hope EA will fix it in a next patch..

is there not a way to at least fix it manually at this point? if i have to fix piece by piece i can at least do so when it comes relevant for pictures or videos. Mostly its the chairs and tables that Id like to get rid of it on, the wall items i can usually not always but usually work around it, i can hide the shadow with something or the wall is dark enough you dont even notice but with the tables and chairs its awful looking.

sammoyke, I thought it had something to do with the meshes and re-importing those could maybe fix the problem as all new objects don't have this problem. So I would try that first. Opening your package file, export meshes, import meshes and see if that changes something in game.

it didnt im actually working on an object mesh project right now ( its why i wanted to see about fixing this) and its not changed anything but i reckon if i figure it out on accident ill share it. ill wait in the mean time for any other creator's notes that might have fixed this issue with existing cc

Its not a solution per say but if you put lighting settings on low this issue goes away. I don't really want my settings on low I enjoy playing at max graphics but considering my options I thought well its prolly the best i can do. Well then I decided to say screw it and just try to change that file.I was nervous but I saved a copy of the original and it was literally the easiest thing in the world to do. I decided to copy and paste the file, as it is in my game. I changed the settings on the "low" setting.So you will put the settings on low. but it will actually produce regular "really high graphics" with the only setting changed for the shadow to not bleed through. You can find it in the c drive x86 folder find the origin folder go to sims 4 then the bin folder. You'll open the graphicsrule file with notepad and You would copy and paste this entire glob of text and replace what's currently in the GraphicsRule.sgr file. save it and run the game. If it works the game's graphics settings will be the same as "very high" graphics but the shadow problem will indeed be gone. I currently don't see anything off or missing with this setting off the settings turned off is RenderShadowsEnabled which is set to false This one is usually set to true for every setting medium to very high but on low settings this is off and in low settings this problem disappears so turning them off with every other setting set on high seems to work just fine. If it doesn't work or you don't want the graphics set on very high you can change the file yourself and not use mine. To do that , follow the steps above but instead of copying all of my settings just Use the search field in your note pad and look for LightingQuality no spaces in the word. then scroll down you'll see the settings "low" "medium" ect ect. find the setting that you usually use and just change settings RenderShadowsEnabled to FALSE instead of true. save and try it in game. what i might maybe do is make low,med,high,very high versions of this file with the shadow's turned off and then people can DL the setting they usually use.

Workaround Shadow IssueOk there are three versions of this text file. one for medium,high, and ultra high settings .You will copy the file and paste it into your bin folder. It will ask you to overwrite it and you will say yes. ( make a copy of your original just in case, though very worst case scenerio you can "repair" the game and it should just fix everything back to it's original settings) I didn't make one for low because if you have set it on low then this issue doesn't happen. if you run into issues with it working if you followed the instructions properly let me know I'll double check these in game.
