Hi there!
So last year I made crates you could turn into bookcases by stacking them together. I put slots on all of these items so the crates would align perfectly, making a nice bookcase. Pretty soon I ran into the error that while stacking these crates and pushing the undo button in Buy/Build Mode, would make the game crash. The game would also crash if you would pick up multiple crates at once from another crate. It would simply freeze and finally say 'The Sims 4 stopped working', then closing. Other things that would happen are: you can not change the swatch of the crate, they would snap back in their old spot if you try to move them, says 'the object is not found' or you could not save your game. Going to the World Map would remove the crates and everything would be fine.
I tried to come up with solutions at the time, but I simply couldn't fix the issue so I decided to make some preset bookcases as well so people wouldn't have to stack crates to create their own bookcases. I also figured out that the game would not crash if you delete/move crates starting from top to bottom. As long as you delete/move only one at the time (even better, in the reverse order you put them together!), the game would not crash and everything would be perfectly fine.
Now it's been a while since I released these crates and around the December patch half of them broke because of the bookcase tuning. I just redid all the tuning for them and they are working fine again, but I was thinking of this crashing error and figured I might as well just ask here if there's any solution to stop the crashing from happening? I did have this happen with other CC too (some plates I downloaded which stack together as well), so it's not a crash only tied to my crates. Is this simply an EA thing or is there actually a way to avoid this all together?
The package (all the packages use the textures from the package with (Base) in the name, so that one is required): simfil.es/253358/
