I was wondering where would a tutorial on how to make a hat/headband be since I assume the process isn't the same as making a piece of clothing? Here's what I'm trying to make:

if it is a cas object then the process is the same as making clothing. you'll have to weight it and make a uv_1 for it. it's the same thing.

Thank you for answering so fast, What would I use as a substitute for the nude top/bottom/body? Would I use a bald head or?

you could use a bald head. or you could use a hat. it's preference. sometimes using the head can mess up some weights and sometimes using a hat can mess up some weights. you just need to experiment and figure out what works best for your project

for weight, all to head bone. and uv_1 isn't needed so.. you don't even need a transfer.

I wouldn't be so sure about not needing a UV_1 There are sliders for the head size so, in doubt just do a transfer :p

Head pieces are different from the rest of CAS items. With or without uv_1, they mold with the head even if you want it or not. I would only suggest doing uv_1 if the accessory (or hair) goes over the down the shoulders.

having a uv_1 can sometimes mess things up and having uv_1 can sometimes fix things. like for example, some hair meshes break when given a uv_1 and some break when they aren't given uv_1.

short hairs? I've never experienced that. that's good to know. I've personally never created uv_1 for head accessories.

I used a hat for weights and now there's this weird shadow on the sims' face and I can see the base of the hair

can you share an image of the problem? you may need to remove the shadow map or import a new one

i don't think i see the shadow problem. if you don't like the fact that it is cutting the hair then you may need to change it from a hat to an accessory. there will be clipping issues if you didn't create your mesh to fit exactly around or underneath this particular hair mesh.

The shadow problem is on the forehead right near the hairline

did you check to see if the shadow map was the culprit? try making it blank and seeing if that fixes anything
