Hello! I don't always post here for help, because I usually find the solutions with in the helpful tutorials and also solved threads of others whom had similar issues. Unfortunately, I'm almost at my wits' end with this particular project.
I did a "frankenmesh" of an end table, in which everything (functionality, slots, texture, etc) seem to be working like it should, except for shadows and lighting on the mesh. Here's the table in-game:
Doesn't look half-bad. The problem comes when I place the table indoors or put a table lamp on the table. Parts of the mesh are illuminated as if there's a hole or gap somewhere in the mesh.
The table with the lamp off:
And the table with the lamp on:
There is no other light in the room, just this panda lamp.
I've also tested without a table lamp and with ceiling lights on in the room:
It's a little more subtle, but if you look closely, the same parts of the mesh are still illuminated.
I also noticed shadows on the legs, where the table top ends, are a little off, as well.
I don't know if it has something to do with the shadow LODs, the bumpmap, or even the fact that it's a mashup of three different objects and the game isn't taking too well to the mesh.
I'm not sure if this bit of info will help, but I will share, just in case. I used the fence post from the Toddlers SP Trapped Tots Gate, the tabletop from City Living's Ugway Grot end table, and the shelves from Cool Kitchen's Cook Book Nook.
Things I've tried but to no avail:
- Different base game tables as my base
- Replacing the bump map with a blank one
- Adding faces to any gaps in the mesh in Blender
- Switching out the "shadow blobs" underneath the table mesh (in Blender) and using shadow LODs from different end tables other than the frankenmeshed one
- Pulling my hair out
I'm very resilient in my efforts in seeing my CC projects through, but so far, this table has given me so much trouble. It's going to be part of a preschool-ish-themed CC pack, and I was trying to go with like a chunky, plastic Fisher-Price Little People furniture style. I'd hate to scrub the table, it's too cute!
Anyway, I tried my best to explain my issue clearly and I hope you can understand what I mean. If there's any more details or anything you need from me, feel free to let me know. Thank you in advance!
