So I made a custom toybox, and it keeps crashing the game when I go open the catalog for kids toys. The game gives no time to actually select the item, and the icon is invisable. I tried to just clone the toybox, without adding the new mesh and I had no issues. I have tried to recreate this like 10 times now and it always does the same thing. Anyone have any ideas what I may have done wrong, or what the issue is? Here is the package, and it was cloned from "The Pandora Toy Box".

Hi! Can you share the blend file you're importing as well? So have you tested that it only crashes when you import your mesh? or have you done any edits? How about importing any other mesh just to test it out?

Here is the blend for the new toybox. It does only crash when i use the new mesh, I have tried it using a second new mesh and it does the same thing. I tried it with extracting another TS4 toybox and using its mesh cloned from the pandora toybox and it didnt give me a problem. So it seems like it is legit just my mesh.

Question, i'm looking at the blend. Does groupmesh_0 have any geometry? Did you go into edit mode, and deleted all geometry? You have to have a plane for the shadow. I'll keep checking the blend but that seems like the culprit at first glance.

No it doesnt, since the pandora box didn't have one either when I extracted it and opened its base blend in blender. I assumed this was just something to do with this item.

That's really odd! I just cloned the pandora box on my own and i can see the shadow plane in the preview. Exported the blend and see it there too. Having empty meshgroups without geometry can cause these type of issues. Would you mind re cloning the pandora box on your own and linking me the package? Maybe there's an issue while cloning it.

This is what I see when im looking at the base pandora blend linked below. I see no shadow that you would usually find there. EDIT: Here is what I see in S4S, dont see the noraml shadow there either. Here is the pandora blend

mmmm, yeah. I'm not sure if there's something wrong with the cloning differently than it used to. I'm going to pass the information. When you say you tried importing another blend, was it also with the empty geometry in the shadow? Why don't you tried deleting the groupmesh0 from your blend, so that it keeps the original.. just in case the shadow isn't showing up everywhere else but it does in the code.. (?)..honestly this is all trial and error in hopes of bypassing what's going on. Sorry i can't give you a definitive solution right now :/.

Hi SrslySims, there is an issue with Studio's new geostate feature that causes it to make a game-crasher on certain items no matter what you do. This problem will occur even with just a round trip of the item. The problem is under investigation and will be fixed. There is little doubt in my mind that there is nothing you are doing to cause this - you have probably run into one of the geo-items that Studio cannot manage correctly yet. If you want to test the toybox to see for sure if it's one of those items, you can do a round-trip test. That involves exporting and re-importing the original mesh into the package and testing that in the game. In reading a later one of your posts, it sounds like you did a sort of round trip using the mesh from a different EA toybox, but I cannot be sure. Could you describe the sequence of steps you took that resulted in a clone of this toybox functioning properly (not crashing) in the game? ETA: also inabadromance, when you see the shadow after cloning this toybox are you making the clone with a version of Studio that has the geo-feature?

Thanks for trying to help inabadromance, I will try that and see if it fixes the issue.
I do not see a shadow for the following: Pandora (BG), Chomper (BG), Toys for Tykes (Toddler Stuff)
I do however see it for: Traveling Trunk (Parenthood)

I was starting to rack my brain at all of the things that could have gone wrong. I tried taking the mesh from the pandora box and exporting it fully, and reimporting it back into all the correct LODS of the same pandora box. No issue in game. I also tried taking the chomper Base Game toybox and exporting it, and importing it into the pandora clone (with all LODS). This crashed the game. I also just tried to take the traveling trunk, that did actually have the shadow pane and importing it into the pandora clone. Removed the _IKTarget_ Vertex group (since the pandora box doesnt have this line). No issues in game.

SO I was able to get my custom mesh to work I just had to take a few extra steps.
I cloned the Pandora (base game) toybox. Extracted the meshes for all LOD's from the Traveling Trunk (parenthood). Imported all the LODS for traveling trunk into Pandora clone. Used the Traveling Trunk blend to append my new meshes. Then imported my new mesh into the Pandora clone.
Didn't crash the game and works fine.

I'm glad to hear that you got things working. Knowing the details of the process is helpful. Thank you and you, too, inabadromance , for the information about what's working, what isn't, and differences between versions. This information is helpful and, hopefully, will speed the process of perfecting the geostates feature.
