If you use "Blender - Steam Version" please use the normal Blender Version which already got recommended by inabadromance because the Steam Version does NOT support the Sims 4 Studio Addon.

I just downloaded and installed Sims 4 Studio... and I'm getting a similar message because I have Blender 2.79. I'd hate to have to downgrade for this program only.
I don't supposed S4S will be brought up to the current version of Blender any time soon?

you do not need to downgrade to a different blender. you can easily download 2.70 as a zip and make the blender path to your new folder

Thanks... I wasn't sure if Blender would allow more than one version on a computer.
EDIT: The download page says 2.76 is required to modify meshes. So now I'm a tad confused which to download!

2.70 was the first and will always be a stable version to work with Studio. 2.76 is compatible and includes some features that are relevant to CAS meshing for TS4, but is incompatible with Windows XP. Either version will work fine with Studio if it runs correctly on your computer and as annabluu said, you can point Studio to an unzipped version of it and continue using any other version of Blender to actually make your .blend file.
