HELP PLEASE!!! Making bottom of a dress invisible

Hello, I'm making a dress recolor to turn a simple dress into a feather trim dress. And I need the bottom of the mesh to be invisible to create this look.
As you can see, the shape from the original dress on the left is still on the right so even though the texture file has transparency at the bottom below the feathers, the mesh just has a skin colored bottom.
I've tried to find the answer in these forums but nothing has worked! Thank you!
