Hi there Not sure if you'll be able to help. I'm trying to create a book computer using Magnolian Farwell's Open Lexicon mesh for my historical game. I'm doing this for my own use at present as I don't have Magnolian's permission to publish yet. I've been able to get the mesh to show in game. However, I still keep getting the black screen showing up in game even though it doesn't show up in the blender meshes or in Sims4Studio. I've tried replacing the Model LODs, but only one of them seems to be showing where it should be. It does however, add the new Model LODS lower down. When I've deleted the old Model LODs I can't place the book computer in game. I've also looked at Esmeralda's Type Writer Computer in Sims4Studio to see if I can replicate what she's done and I can't figure out where I'm going wrong. If this is not appropriate to post here, please let me know and I'll remove this post. Thanks in advance (below are some screenshots I've taken of the issue that might help: In game next to Esmeralda's Typewriter Computer (Mine still has the old black screen her's does not): Blender Screenshots (Mesh and Shadow Mesh): Model LODS in Sims4Studio:

But it's hard to determine if that's the case without having actual access to the blend and package files. If you could share the blend file and the package file, me or someone else can take a look at it a bit better.

rkm282 you are welcome. I've just took a look at your .blend file, and i was right about the amount of groups. Group 0 = the mesh that shows up that shouldn't be there. Delete it, and renumber the cut numbers (group 1 becomes cut number 0, and group 2, becomes cut number 1). Try that, i am pretty confident that should do the trick.

@memphis84 I think I've clearly done something wrong as it now gone like this. I'm sure I did as you advised, but I think must have done something seriously wrong...

You should NEVER just outright delete a group in blender. If you want to remove a group from an object then you should delete all of the geometry APART from a single face and then scale that down as small as possible and hide it in the other parts of the mesh somewhere. If you just completely delete the unwanted groups then studio will ignore that the group has been removed and just keep it anyway.
This is what has happened here.
The screen is still a part of the mesh and IS in the studio view but is invisible. You can tell it is there because 1) the VideoSurface shader is still listed in the mesh tab and 2) if you move the 3D view around, the grid lines disappear when the invisible screen passes in front of them.
If you export your mesh from Studio again you will see that the computer screen is still there. To remove it you will have to do as mentioned above and scale it down really tiny and hide it inside the other part of the book.

menaceman44 thank you for your advise. I kept the original so have tried as you have advised to scale down the 2 sections of the mesh. When I hit save and put it back in the package they come back again at the same old size. I'm still rather new to customising content and this is clearly above my current skill. Are there any tutorials you can recommend that maybe able to assist me with how to scale down sections of the mesh correctly as I'm still learning how everything works in blender and I'm clearly doing something wrong.

OK so I think may actually have figured it out and I'm nearly there:

So I've now got it to load in game without the screen showing when the camera is up close. However, it looks shocking from a distance, whereas Esmeralda's Typewriter computer still looks fabulous. Any advise would be greatly appreciated (screenshots below for reference):

You still need to edit all of the different LOD (Level Of Detail) meshes. LOD0 is the one you see close up in game. As you move the camera away the model will switch to LOD1 which will be slightly less detailed. Then further than that the game will switch to LOD2 which will be even less detailed.
If this is just going to be for personal use then you can probably get away with just importing the LOD0 mesh into the other LODs. Different LODs aren't always set up to have exactly the same number of groups in them though so just importing your LOD0 mesh doesn't always work in all cases but it is worth trying that first anyway.

Thank you menaceman44 I do actually intend to release it as I now have permission from Magnolian Farwell to use her lovely mesh. I've not had much time to play around with fixing the distance issue yet, but I'll definitely have a look at how I can sort the LODS out. I'm still learning with Blender so it may take me a bit of time to fix the issue, but I'm seriously grateful for all your advise and assistance. As soon as I've fixed it I'll definitely post back here.
