Topic. I've noticed that all the Sim objects have edge splits all over the object, thus making them have more vertices than if they were all connected. The reason for this, as I found out making my own CC, is that the shading is dependent on these flat separated planes. If you don't separate faces you get serious specular and shading issues.
Question is weather these separate faces have a performance impact? Does the number of vertices go into the factor of performance or is it just the number of faces? E.G. The topic title, a solid cube or a cube with all its sides separated.
