So I've been doing some translation/grammar fixing on some of the mods I have, which is usually fairly simple--go into the string table, edit the entries, and voila. The problem is, I've encountered a mod that has a string table with several hundred (if not more than a thousand) entries, most of which appear to be duplicates of entries in other tables. Some of these entries in the Big Boy will change if I edit the tables they're duplicates of, while others will not. I have a LOT of questions about this.
1. Why does it contain only duplicates from other tables, and why so many?
2. Why do some of the entries in it change when I update the other tables, while others are unaffected?
3. Will deleting this massive table potentially break the mod? (This I could test, but frankly I'm afraid even though I have backups, and figured I might as well ask first)
and most importantly,
4. If this table is necessary for the mod to function, is there a way to edit it in bulk instead of changing every single entry manually? For example, there are those 2 tabs on the right side when a string table is selected: the data tab, which has the edit items button, and the text tab, which displays the entire table as, well, text. My first idea was to paste it all in a text document, use Find & Replace to fix all the many, many duplicate entries, and then paste that text back into the table--but turns out you can't edit the text of the string table. I'm completely tech illiterate so I have absolutely zero idea of why, all I know is that I can't. I also noticed that there are import/export buttons, so my next idea was to try those, but it can only import, uh, binary files, I think? And I've no idea how to even begin to get into that.
Any ideas?
