I've been browsing through the archives and tutorials for days now. Please somebody point me to a link or something? Is it possible to add geostates to an object?
Thanks.

I believe that it is possible but I haven't come across any tutorials on the subject. I managed to take the base game dishwasher and add the trash bin geostates to it once but I couldn't get the tuning to work for what I was attempting so I never found out if the game actually used them correctly or not though. If I can remember what I did I will try to provide you some info.

menaceman44 Did you ever get a chance to look at your project to see if you were able to get them to work? I tried to add some geostates and it didn't work properly for me but I wasn't sure if I was missing something.

Oh sorry! I completely forgot about this. The project I was attempting this for fell through for other unrelated animation and tuning reasons.
I got as far as adding new geostates inside of the package by identifying them from other packages that had the required geostates already. I realised I had to save and reopen the package in studio before those changes would show as having been made. They showed on the Mesh tab for exporting but I never got any further as I couldn't get the object to do anything I expected of it in game.
I was being particularly over-ambitious and attempting to combine the dishwasher object and animations with the functionality of a dustbin to create a trash compactor.

I think to make it work as both you'd need custom tuning, custom ASM, etc. I can't see the option to add geostates though, where do you find them in the warehouse section? For our project we simply found and cloned an object with the number of geostates and textures we needed Adding the geostates would have saved us a lot of trouble and I'd like to know for future projects.

MizoreYukii It's inside the model resources. I actually used an object that has geostates originally but the materials in the model resources aren't working for what I need. I already have custom tuning but the states that reference the new geostates don't trigger any changes. I was mainly just curious, I didn't want to invest anymore time in trying to make them work if it's not possible.

BrazenLotus Oh, I believe I found it, thank you! Do we add it to each category, Dropshadow, Phong, etc.? Is this an animated object (toybox, hamper, etc.) or an object that changes how it looks instantly (like plants)? If it's supposed to be animated you need to make sure the mesh is weighted properly so it changes/shows the new states (like when a toybox opens it shows the toys). If it's supposed to change instantly I'm not quite sure what could be wrong, far as I know the tuning should be enough.

MizoreYukii Yes, you'd add the same geostates to all of them. It's not animated, the states just need to change like a plant.

Looking at it more closely I realized that the new geostates are showing up all at the same time when I load the game rather than showing up when the tuning says to. Basically the geostates are all active at the same time regardless of the tuning.

BrazenLotus Did you edit the stuff that says Min Vertex Index? I noticed each state has a different one, maybe that is the cause if you didn't set them?

MizoreYukii it looks like those fields get updated automatically when you re-open the file and import meshes into those geostates so I'm pretty sure that's not the issue :(

BrazenLotus Do your states each have unique names instead of "Default"?

MizoreYukii they do, I hashed unique names for each geostate and added those same geostates to every model resource. Then like OM instructed in another thread I saved the object, closed the file, then re-opened it. At this point the new geostates all show up properly in Sims4Studio and from there I can add meshes to each geostate like normal. It just won't show up properly when you load it in game... :-/
