I was following this tutorial for creating cc clothing. When I got to the part about transferring weights I received the error message: "Failed, no other selected objects with vertex groups found". What should I do?

Hi. You must select a reference, then Shift-select your mesh. Make sure both are visible

Try to restart Blender just in case Your reference has vertex groups, right?

I closed and reopened blender several times with no change. I think the reference has vertex groups. They are listed in blender.

mmm, ok, let's go through details just in case. - clone an item that is closest to yours in shape, export it's blend, open it; - import the obj from MD in the scene; - close holes, transfer a uv_1 map; - Remove doubles to ensure vertices with the same coordinates along split edges will get the same weights; - make sure both the reference and your item are visible and selectable; - select the reference, Shift-select your garment, switch to Weight paint, Transfer weights, use Clean and Limit total tools If you will still get that message, please share your blend file and tell me what version of Blender do you use

I not sure what you mean by this: "close holes, transfer a uv_1 map". When I clicked remove duplicates, a message came up saying none were removed. When I made the 1st mesh visible, I didn't get the error message, but how do I know if it worked? In the tutorial, it said that if the weights show then they transferred properly. But I saw no change in the mesh.

It would be best to watch a few tutorial without following them first to get a better idea. You must have not reached that uv_1 and hole clothing part, but for the future, it's best to do them from the start. You must select everything first with A, then Remove doubles If you select your garment and see vertex groups in the list, they transferred. In Weight paint mode find pelvis or spine vertex group to make sure
