Hiya!
I was wondering if anyone knows how to make CC clothing knit-able for the yarn-basket?
I've taken a look into the warehouse tab and decided to clone the SP17 sweater dress to make sure i'd have all the same settings as the original. Unfortunately my outfit does not show up in the yarn-basket menu. It does however become available when i reach knitting level 5 in CAS. After this i also looked into the yarn-basket to see if there was a possibility there to add some type of info/code there to make sure my sweater shows up in the yarn-basket menu but to no avail.
I have a feeling that it might be much more complicated than i anticipated. I also took a look at the export tuning option in S4S and searched knitting but to be honest i've no clue what i would need to be doing there. So before proceeding any further i'd thought it might be best to ask here in which direction i should look and proceed. does it have anything to do with tuning or is something i missed in the warehouse tab from the dress or yarn-basket object?

Renorasims I don't have NK pack yet to take a look, but I suspect that you also need to add some tuning to the knitting basket. For example, there was no way to make a custom umbrella before Andrew created a special accessory mod.

It does require some tuning. I'm planning to write a tutorial for CC creators in a few days once I figure out two different bugs with the current method. Thankfully Andrew's Crafting Enabler works for knitting, so that removes scripting or making a new injector from the equation.

Any updates? I've been trying to hack this myself but no luck yet. I'm not a scripter (I can only modify tuning files) but it looks like there is some Python script involved to read even new swatches to existing knittables

Sorry for the wait, besides writing a tutorial being time consuming I also kept getting distracted. I wound up discovering how to make knittable baby onesies (slightly different method though and will be covered in another tutorial) so it was at least a good distraction, lol. The other was getting some of my mods updated that needed to be updated. I should be done within the day or the next day, still trying to solve that missing icon issue though, but the only reason you need scripting is to avoid overriding files. You can do everything with just tuning, but if you release it like that it will conflict with every other creators files.

Thank you for the update. So that's why scripting is required. I will wait for your tutorial. I tried using Andrew's craftables but it uses snippets and I haven't found any snippet file to replace apart from the affordanceList_Clubs_Knitting which I don't believe needs modification. The recipes are listed in the interaction tunings (ex:knitting_StartCrafting_SweaterScarfs) but I can't pinpoint where the actual cas clothing name is mentioned because the ids are different (ex: in that interaction tuning the first recipe is 240561 and the definition in that file is 253892 <!--Knitting_Scarf_FBlack (Black women's sweater with gray scarf)--> but when you look up the matched locked cas item name is yfTop_SP17SweaterScarf_SolidBlack so I don't see how it's actually called.

I figured out the icon issue (something internal is controlling the knitting icons and I had to use a workaround), now I'm trying to figure out this weird issue where custom knits double in CAS upon unlocking them. I'm not sure what the cause is and nothing has worked so far. New swatches for existing knits work perfectly fine though. Why did EA make the one interesting crafting system with so many twists and turns? Edit: Welp, Pancake and I looked all over, this seems to be another internal system we can't access. We can't find anything that's controlling this or what makes the knitted items different (even clones duplicate, overrides do the same). So it's just something we'll have to deal with until EA takes pity on us and fixes it, unfortunately. I'll try to get their attention somehow about this. Now that I'm done trying to solve that I'll continue with the tutorial, just wish I had a solution to offer.

Oh wow! You got really far. I guess we can live with the little inconvenience until ea fixes it in a patch. Where will the tutorial be posted? I can't wait to start knitting custom cc in game.

I was at this point before, but I thought the duplication error was my fault in the beginning. I always make a basic test to figure out if something works, which can sometimes be sloppy and buggy, then I fix and test all kinds of details to see what is and isn't possible, what causes it to break, etc. before I write a tutorial or for my own knowledge. Unfortunately this turned out to be one of those things that wasn't my fault and was actually a bug. Good news though is that I had made a bug report thread on the AHQ, which passed the Me Toos required to be given attention and I've already sent my files to a Guru to be looked at. I pray it's not a bad bug and can be easily fixed, I have several mods (blacksmithing, sewing, a few misc things) relying on this new locking feature and if it's never fixed I'm going to be so disappointed. Anyhow, the beta version of the tutorial is now up! So sorry for the wait, it was just one of those time-consuming tutorials and bad week combos. It's a private post atm as I need to make sure it's easy to follow for CC creators before I spread it around as a public post (will also be on my Patreon, my preferred tutorial uploading spot as it displays better). Please let me know if anything is confusing, could be improved, etc.

Ooo a sewing mod would be epic. Thank you for putting together a tutorial. I will check it out and follow the steps and let you know how it goes. Hope your week gets better, the weekend is upon us, that's something good to look forward to <3

Hello, I'm back. Thank you so much for the tutorial MizoreYukii. It was very clear and well written. I managed to create new swatches for the Scwarfs, the rug and then add my own new CC dress mesh to be created by the ingame yarn basket under your custom "outfit" category.
I see what you mean, the two issues: 1. The thought bubble after knitting custom cc is a blank white square with a red X. 2. In CAS after unlocking knitted items, there are duplicates (the original CAS item unlocked and the "knitted" CAS item). To work around the second issue (because I don't like it), I just left the "ShowInUI" flag unchecked for each swatch so until the item is knitted it will not appear in CAS.
Another thing I noticed (not sure if I did something to cause this) but your custom 'knit outfit' category has the same sweater dresses in the 'knit tops' category.
One more thing to note is that the following icon_override is not needed in the recipe for objects (if you add it you see a white llama instead of the object icon): <T n=“icon_override” p=“InGame\UI\Icons\Headlines\Final\headline_microphone.png”>2f7d0004:00000000:BA38D7CD09BA53A3</T>
Thanks once again. I'm off to make more CCs to be knitted.

bblahq I'm so glad it was easy to follow, and you're welcome! Could you see the pictures well enough? Tumblr is squishing them on my end. I might have to go through and make clickable links to imgur. What an interesting solution for the duplicating though. The item doesn't appear in the UI until you knit each swatch with that unchecked? But does this include all the swatches, or just the ones after the first? I'm surprised that worked, but that's a good solution for now until it's fixed by EA! Yes that was on purpose since the dresses are fully body outfits, so I added them to mine, but left EA's file alone (that I only renamed through the string) in case anyone made an override mod for the interactions. I can see how that's confusing though, so I'll fix that. xD Oh, yes, the tutorial was just for clothing (How to Make CC Clothing Knittable is the title) and not objects, but I'll make sure to make notes for those following for objects. I was planning on duplicating and deleting the CC parts, rewording, etc. for an object tutorial later though. Actually, I'll just go ahead and do that today so I can release both together at once!

Hi yes I could see the picture, I used my cellphone for the tutorial and I zoomed it in. Its not sharp but I could make out the parts that were highlighted.
Yes, with the showInUI flag unchecked the item only shows in CAS after its been knitted. For example I have 24 swatches in my cc but only 4 are knittable and each swatch knitted unlocks 5 additional swatches (so if you knit all 4 you unlock all 24 swatches). So if you knit just one of the 4 knittable swatches, in CAS after you add to your wardrobe the knitted swatch, you will see 6 swatches for that item. Then if you knit another, you unlock 6 more swatches (hope that makes sense, I don't know how to add pics otherwise I would show it with pictures).
Oh good to know the dress showing up in your custom category was intentional. I was confused at first but it does make more sense in that category, not sure what EA was thinking.
Yea, objects is a bit simpler than cas cc because you don't need to worry about adding the stored_cas_parts or the icon_override to the recipe but everything shows up correctly even in the thought bubble and there are no duplicates. Only thing with objects is I don't think they can be locked? I still see my object cc in build/buy without debug. If you have a way of locking them please let me know, otherwise its not that big of an issue.
Thanks.
