Hello, In my work I make the buttons in marvelous. In Blender uvmap a single button looks like this and exceeds 10k. How should I fix this? The way I do it; Corrected version by moderator mauvemorn;

Hi. It's not a single one but all of them and it how it was, i did use decimate on them to reduce that. But anyway, you could retopologize them, can use Decimate modifier on them only ( i think that was what i did here, do not remember ) or create new ones - switch to front view; - switch to edit mode ( TAB ), click on Add ( Shift A ), choose Cube; - in the settings set Vertices to, say, 10. Radius to 0,01. Depth to 0,002. Cap fill type: nothing. Tick Align to view. No need to generate uvs bc they will not look the way they should; - Alt-RMB click only on the front edge loop to select it, press E to extrude, then S to scale down, then Alt M - Collapse to close; - select the whole button again, choose the same background in the UV editor as the outfit, click on UVs - Unwrap. Scale the uv island down and put somewhere. You can select the inner loop in UV editor and scale it up to be bigger since that is what you will be seeing; - there is a way of snapping buttons to the surface so they align perfectly but its a lot of steps, instead just enable snapping ( press Shift Tab in edit mode, you'll see a magnet icon light up, click next to it and choose Face ), select your button, move to where you want it to be, then switch Transformation orientation from Global to Local, then click R twice and rotate it to align to the surface nicely; - duplicate it ( Shift D ), and move it away, rotate it again; - you can also move the buttons uvs away from each other if you will be baking lightning. They are positioned in different places and technically would be lit differently. But if you are baking ambient occlusion, then there is no need. You can use an MD button to bake a texture for all buttons once and just use it everywhere
