Best practice for separated beds?

Back when DU broke single beds last year, the rumored fix I'd seen around was that separated frames should not be tagged in the "Beds" category and the tuning should be changed to something not bed-related (e.g. use object_sculpture_NoView instead).

However, nearly a year later I'm still seeing bedframes released using bed tags and tuning; did the issue turn out to be something else, and I'm just making extra work for myself if I change them manually? What's required now for a bed to be University-safe?
