I've looked at tutorials, both written and video, and I believe I understand how to do it, practically speaking, but it's just not working.
Here are my biggest questions and concerns:
Here are my biggest questions and concerns:
- Seams not showing up?
- What happens after the unwrapping?
I get a bunch of "islands", I believe they're called, but have no idea what to do with them. I assume they're supposed to be adjusted and aligned according to Andrew's UV template. The issue is that some pieces are often connected and when I attempt to align them with the template parts of the connected pieces are stretched out. This also applies to really simple mesh edits. So how can I make it work?
- When finished with the unwrapping, what do you do with it?
Do you just leave it as is once properly aligned with the template? Or do you add it as a hidden layer for the texture file? There aren't any explanations for this anywhere, as far as I know, but feel free to link one if I've somehow missed it.
- Are there any thorough tutorials that I can follow?
I've searched far and wide and none of the existing tutorials, as far as I know, are detailed or thorough enough. I'm a beginner so I need exact details. I'd rather not look at non-sims related tutorials because the objects are often too different, which makes it difficult to understand how to apply it all to sims.
Example:
I'm making a cropped t-shirt for male frames and I'm still having issues with this, despite the simple edit. I believe I've marked the seams correctly but correct me if I'm wrong. I simply followed Andrew's UV- and seam template. Blender file
Edit: I know I have made several threads recently and I'm sorry to bother people with simple stuff like this.
