Hello, I have been using a mod, which basically adds an additional magic sage into the magic realm, but the only problem that bugs me is this particular sage doesn't have a rune floating above her head like others. I had been trying to figuring out how to add an icon to this sage and I finally have done it by adding script
<V n="vfx" t="play_effect">
<U n="play_effect">
<T n="effect_name">gp08_magic_sage_icon_mischief</T>
<V t="Slot" n="joint_name">
<T n="Slot">b__Head__</T>
</V>
</U>
</V>
<T n="visible">False</T>
</I>
into buff_MagicSage_(The additional Sage) in the original mod.
Then I found out that I can only add icons which originally in the game, like three original runes of the original magic sages by changing it at <T n="effect_name">......................</T>
So my question is "how can I add a custom icon for this script to read?" In my understanding, I need to find out where the game resources are kept and add an icon that I need into the same location as the original icons, then I can run the script. But I don't know where it is or even sure if I can do that. Can anybody kindly help me please? Ps. I am not a mod creator nor having an idea of how to create a mod, just an ordinally player trying to figure things out my own.

What you are doing is tuning btw, not script. Scripting is done with Python. You will need to use the VFX Tool to create a custom VFX (there is a basic tutorial on the page but for colors), but any questions will have to be directed to the download thread as we are not allowed to help with external tools. Basically you want to follow the tutorial to the point of cloning (clone the Mischief one to skip an extra step), then when you get to Step 7 you are instead going to replace the texture, not edit the colors. The texture you need is 4E6AD99ACAE0DA5A, you can access this texture by opening Sims4Studio and clicking Tools at the top > Game File Cruiser, paste the number in the Instance box and click All to filter. Add the texture to your .package and give it a new number, see how in Option 2 of this tutorial. Export the image and replace the mischief icon with your new icon in your editing program of choice, make sure it's saved as transparent and in the same spot. Import the texture back into your .package and save. Go back to the VFX after copying the number you gave the image and replace the number where it says IID with yours. Save your VFX and reference the VFX name in your buff.

I have saved my altered .package from S4S, and I have replaced the number in VFX. Should I merge my S4S .package with VFX and then save or just save VFX as another .package and place both in the Mod folder?
