Try clearing your localthumbcache in your Sims folder, clear any thumbnails in the .package if there are any, then place it back into the game and see if it generates some new ones. The first image is not working btw.

Hi vpinky , Do you mean the swatch color in the upper left (first swatch, pink color) doesn't match the color of the clothing?
I see that the image you provided shows that pink swatch seems to match the color of the top your Sim is wearing, and that swatch has a green border on it (meaning it's selected). The second swatch is a darker green and the the top available with that swatch is also green.
Maybe I'm overlooking something obvious.
It might make it easier to see the problem if you could upload your package file for us to inspect. Here's info on How to upload files in case you're not familiar with it.

I looked at both files and the first CAS Part of each package has the same instance number, and all swatches have the same Prototype ID. That's why they're all under the same catalog entry. Unfortunately I'm too tired to remember what causes that--anyone know? I'm guessing it happens when you try to make a new package by renaming it instead of making a new clone. (?)

That sounds like the first package has been made and then, instead of starting a brand new package, they have used "Save As" to make a new package instead.
OP, if you used "Save As" to make your second package then that is the problem. The code inside the two packages is the same now so the game thinks you have two copies of the same package and they "fight" to show in the game. You will need to remake the second package again starting from the beginning and DO NOT use "Save As".
