It would be super cool if before households were allowed to adopt, if a social worker came to the home and evaluated different aspects of their home. Or, for simplicity sake, if there were requirements Sims had to achieve before they could adopt.
Requirements could include: - At least one adult in the household must have a job - Having proper equipment (a high chair, a potty, a child's bed, toys) - Having at least level 3 cooking skill - Having at least level 3 parenting skill (for those who have parenthood) - Home must be clean - Must have household funds of at least 10k
There could be something similar for pets too.

You know, this is actually a really interesting request... I looked into it a bit and it looks like at one point there was a situation planned for child adoption; a whole bunch of code that was, unfortunately, all deleted. But, I was able to quickly add some of the tests you asked for to the phone interaction for adoption (didn't adjust the Star Treatment fame perk version of the interaction, though, so celebrities with that perk will bypass all of these new tests). This first version checks for: - A refrigerator, toilet, and tub (including shower-tubs) on the lot
- A toddler bed, single bed, or bunk bed (double beds not included) on the lot (apparently bassinets don't have a unique tag... otherwise would've added those too)
- At least one: toy, science table, toddler block set, child violin, jungle gym, dollhouse, monkeybars, game, activity table, toddler slide, ballpits, voidcritter battlestation, doctor playset, block construction table, kiddie pool, or swingset
- At least $10,000 in household funds
I'm looking into the one sim must have a job thing; I actually included some code in there (commented out) that I think should work for this case, but doesn't. If anyone else here wants to give it a glance, feel free to. I haven't tried the skill checks yet, but they may be possible. The clean home thing... will likely be difficult. At least, I can't think of a great way to do it off of the top of my head. I think I might be able to see if there's a "bad/icky/filthy surroundings" buff on anyone in the household. Can you try out the file in a test world and let me know if you have any issues with it? I have all packs (minus Batuu & some kits), so there are references to pack content in the file, but I think its structured so that there won't be any compatibility issues/it'll ignore references to any stuff you don't have. I also gave some thought on how to do a version more like your original concept if anyone else wants to try their hand at it (I'm super tired ATM, but might try over the weekend if no one calls dibs). I think you could create an event that gives the host(s) a buff (hidden or visible) for 48 hours or so on successful completion. The specific buff they get could be different depending on the level of success (bronze = full price adoption enabled, silver = half price adoption enabled, gold = free adoption enabled), and then check for the presence of one of these buffs inside of the test that enables adoption. So if you haven't passed the event recently, adoption is disabled, and gives a tooltip like: "Your household needs to have been successfully evaluated within the last 2 days in order to adopt a child" or something. (Lol and literally right after I did all of this, I realized that Lumpinou Mods made a pretty robust adoption mod. lumpinoumods.com/2021/03/31/woohoo-wellness-pregnancy-overhaul-module-8-2/ I might still try to make this version, since it's a little bit different from theirs, and I could use the practice. )
