I know EA does not officially support objects with more than 180 bones, but I find that I tend to edit surfaces and put more than 180 slots on them. I thought of a script mod to address this limitation. However, I don't know anything about script modding. I am also not sure if script modding this 180 bones limitation is possible.
Any thoughts?

While I can't say so with absolute certainty, I suspect that this limitation is not modifiable. It doesn't seem like something that would be likely to be in the Python-scripted parts of the game code that can be modified with more Python scripting, but rather in the deeper parts of the game that generally can't be modified.
