This is my very first time making my own mesh for anything, and I've never used blender before. I managed to make the hair look the way I want, however, when I import it into S4S its doesn't replace the hair already present, and ends up as this weird hybrid thing.
what can I do to fix this?
I'm using blender 2.76 and S4S 3.1.4.5.

Hi. s4s does not support 2.8+ version of Blender. You need a compatible version as a bridge. Download 2,76, change Blender's path to it in s4s settings, close both s4s and Blender. Open s4s again, clone a hair item, export its blend, open it in 2.76, Append - your original blend file - object - the hair you made. Assign the same type and cut numbers as the maxis hair meshgroups have, save, import

I now have the s4s tools in blender, but I'm still running into an issue where my mesh doesn't show up properly. the old mesh on the studio sim is still there, with my cc clipping through it.

Open s4s, in the top panel there will be Settings, click on it, and change Blender path to where 2.76 is located

Ok, i've figured out getting my mesh in, but the color isn't the same as it is in blender. How do I get the texture I see on my character to replace the one from the original mesh?

By importing a diffuse texture separately. All of it should be covered in a hair meshing or adapting tutorial for the sims 4.

I'm still very confused about what I'm doing wrong. T-T
In Blender the top of the hair is red- like i want it to be
and in S4S- its solid black.
I just can't figure out how to make the model into a texture file I can put into s4s

Blender materials are not imported in s4s. You need to bake that information to diffuse texture and import it separately. But before you do, make sure to edit the uvs in uv_0, because a lot of them overlap in a way that would lead to textures being projected wrong

T-T I have no idea what "baking" is. is there an easy tutorial I can follow?

You can't bake them until your uvs look the right way Ok, get this image in the image editing software and paint one half of the area meant for hair with red, another with black. Save and set the image as the background in the uv editor. Switch to the material tab, switch to Edit mode, select the red material, then click Select to highlight all uv islands it is assigned to, move the uv islands to the red area on the texture in the uv editor. Do the same for the black area

ok. I can see where the red is, but I can't figure out how to move it to the red area. I pressed B and highlighted it all, but when I try to move it with right-click it only moves one dot thing. link to image
