Hi there. Recently I started dabbling a bit in clothes and got permission to convert a sims 3 dress to sims 4 so when I put the texture on the s4 mesh, it looked fine in blender. Imported the mesh to s4s and it had weird black shadows on the bottom half of the dress. I've tried everything I can think of to fix it with no luck. So hoping someone who is more knowledgeable than I am could take a look at it for me, I'd really appreciate it. Here's what I'm experiencing in s4s

The bottom three mesh groups are all double-sided. Go into edit mode for each mesh group, on the inside select a face here and there, Ctrl + L to select all linked faces, X > Faces to delete. Do this for each mesh group that has inside faces. Close the hole at the bottom of the dress. Edit mode, edge select, select edges, E, S, move mouse toward center, Alt + M, At Center. When I did it, the new faces had their normals flipped. If this happens select all of the new faces, W > Flip Normals. Unwrap the new faces you created and scale the UV island really small. Put it on the dress somewhere so it will share its texture. Select edges around the bottom of the dress, press T to open left panel. Under the Shading/UVs tab, mark the edges sharp. Object mode, add an edge split modifier. Be sure to uncheck Edge Angle. This will split the edge of your dress so that you won't get odd shadows. Here's an example. Note the bottom of the skirt:

Thank you so much! The weird shadows are gone now. But question about closing the holes: Do I need to do this for every mesh group or just the very bottom one?

Only holes that are visible need to be closed. The hole at the very bottom is visible, the holes between meshgroups are not
