I'm sure this is something stupid but I don't know what it is and Googling isn't revealing anything. Thought it was high time I got back to the robe conversion and though I was able to last time I worked on the file, now I can't separately select the train's UV islands. If I hover my mouse over one corner and press L it selects everything. Only on the train, though. I recently switched to Blender 2.79b; previously, I was using 2.78. I have a portable version of 2.78 and opened the mesh in it. No problem. So, is it an issue with 2.79b? If someone could help I would love you forever. Here is the file.

Hi. Did not quite get if you're doing this in uv editor or in 3d view, so:
In uv editor: switch to Face select first
In 3d view: Open a side panel with T, press L while hovering over something, then choose UVs or whatever works best

Not sure what I'm supposed to see in the side panel. I'm having trouble selecting the island in orange in the screenshot. When I hover over a single face and press L everything is selected, even the island underneath. Weirdly, I can select other individual islands that are stacked--for instance, the sleeve's islands--but the one for the train? No. Edit: Oh, I get what you mean now. You know, I never realized I could select geometry using L in the 3D window. But, when I select the train using L in the 3D window, and then under "select linked" in the side panel, it doesn't seem to matter which option I use. I just cannot separate those two UV islands. You're using version 2.79b, right? Are you able to select an individual island in the train's UVs? The underside of the train is very patchy and I want to delete it. Earlier, I'd been able to select and hide the UV island that is not broken up (the top faces of the train), revealing the broken and patchy faces underneath and then select and delete those. Now, I can't select an individual island.

When you press G, both move? Did you remove doubles before that? I can move them and the top one should be deleted from the mesh
