I downloaded this mod, and opened one of the files. On every model file, you can see "customfadedistance" in the workshop on the right. It's set to 0.
No matter what I change it to, after saving the mod, it resets to 0...is this not what I need to change?
My goal is to make all the columns fade FARTHER from the camera, so that when you're actually playing the game, they won't be in the way.

The original mod made by PlasticBox says "This is done by setting the "FadeType" and "CustomFadeDistance" in the MODL to 0." And there is this thread, too, that maybe will help? It didn't make a lot of sense to me, tbh. But, maybe it will for you.

Fading is controlled by the values U1-U5. And how exactly is a good question.
Do you want the columns to fade further only in build mode? I've already tried to do this but to no avail.

No, I want them to fade further in live mode, specifically. So that when the camera is at a normal playing distance you don't have columns in your face constantly looking stupid all over the house lol

Okay, this is easy to do (relatively easy cause you have to edit a bunch of files). Place 41A00000 in the U3 field. U2 and U4 = 00000001 (same as original). This only works for live mode.

How do I make the distance farther, though? I'm assuming in your gif the left column is the one edited to fade from farther away, but what if I wanted to do it EVEN FARTHER away? Does 41A0000 translate to a value that I can make bigger?
It might be enough distance to begin with but its hard to tell in the gif

Yes, edited. Just test it in the game. I copied this value from a debug tree. You need to find an item that fades at the distance you want. Also, how far away an item will fade depends on its size. So, instead of looking for another U3, you can resize a bounding box. For example, this Max | 0.68102,4,0.64971 | Min | -0.64384,0,-0.67515 |
change to this in the Editing Meshes > Instanced tab. This will also affect build mode. And although everything works without it, I would also edit the bounds in the Data tab. Either way, you have to experiment.

Ok, I replaced the numbers on a few and got it working, and its actually a bit too far away that it fades, so I'd have to change that a little.
However now I have another problem: Columns apparently just plain don't fade when attached to a wall, at all. :( So this only helps free standing columns, when the problem is usually with columns in walls!

One column has 9 models. You need to edit all of them.
