I've been going through the steps of this tutorial I'm writing, just to double-check everything. The uv_1 looks terrible. I should have noticed how bad it was when I first wrote my directions but I did not. Would it be possible for someone—and by "someone" I'm hoping Mauvemorn, lol—to look at this uv_1 and offer some guidance. It looks stretched in the crotch area and broken in multiple places. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. 👍 The blend

You must align the garment with the body first, apply armature modifier, and only then re-transfer all of the data

This is a conversion from another game and not a mesh that I made myself. When you say, "align the garment with the body first," I think of what you did in your video (tacking the garment to the avatar in MD). It's that what you mean? Because I didn't make this garment in MD. Can you specify what you mean by aligning the garment with the body?

We’ve already talked about this garment before but in the context of weights. You need to do the same exact thing but transfer not only the weights but uv_1 as well I made a video here sims4studio.com/post/166529/thread

It's not that I don't know how to transfer a uv_1 or what to do with the armature; it's that the uv_1 is terrible and I'm wondering if there is a way to get a better result. I mean, just look at the horror! I just looked at the video again. Yes, everything your video showed I included in my tutorial. I did get a slightly better result if I put a checkmark in Face Data. But, it was only a tiny bit better. This screenshot shows Face Data unchecked. Just including the screenshot so that I make sense.

you are not applying the armature modifier after changing the pose of the body. You must click on the Apply button for the reference to be changed permanently and for the data to transfer from the new pose, not the original.

Well, now I'm confused. In my tutorial, steps 1-10 are in the exact order that your video showed. The only thing I did differently was step 5. Should I transfer the uv_1 (step 6) after step 10, then?

The reference must be in the same exact pose as the garment. The arms of the reference are straight but those of the garment are bent. You need to bend the arms of the reference so that they align perfectly with the arms of the garment. Same goes for legs.

I know. I understand that. That's what I'm doing, actually. I'm using "top" as the source to transfer the uv_1, and "top" is in the same pose as the police uniform. I'm not transferring the uv_1 from the s4studio_mesh_1 mesh group. My problem is that the result is horribly messy and I'm wondering if there's a way to improve it. You're better at making a good uv_1 than I am and I was hoping you had some advice.

When you transfer uvs, is the top hidden? If yes, unhide it. When the reference is hidden, the data is not transferred. You’re seeing the olds uvs. I have no problem transferring them from the top when it is visible

I wouldn't think that would make a difference but I guess it does. 🤷♀️ I transferred it with the top unhidden and the results are better. Still a lot of stretching in the crotch area but maybe it won't matter. I'll have to test it in game. Thanks for your help, Mauvemorn.
