99.9% of fem frame clothes used on masc frame produce breasts.
What are the chances that a carefully crafted skin detail that makes the chest concave would be able to in some way mitigate that, by cancelling it out?
I'm not making a request or asking how to do it, just wondering if it's in any way a plausible idea.

Hi. Unless you want a sim with bara tts, then the skin wont really help much with that. They are too pinched to look natural and the only way to remedy that is to make them bigger and wider. What could help, though, is a slider or a body preset that would reshape that area.It would be difficult to make it , though, because the default masc frame does not look like that

I think you misunderstood the question- I'm asking if a skin detail that makes the torso *concave* to counter the broken fem frame items would possibly help flatten out the chest when a masc frame sim wears a fem frame top.
Or an accessory I suppose since a skin detail would apply to every outfit.
I know it wouldn't be perfect but it might help the issue.

Skin detail or anything else texture-based cannot reshape the mesh, if that is what you mean. If you mean you want to create an illusion of flatter chest by overlaying/masking the shadows under the breasts through the texture-based accessory or something like this, then that can work only per outfit and only from some angles. It may look flat from the front but not from the side. If you were to go this way, it would be easier to just edit the textures of the outfit itself than create standalone accessories. You cannot create a texture that will remove this shadow from all outfits because all outfits do not look the same in that area. And you cannot remove the bump on the mesh without altering the mesh either manually or with a slider/preset
Edit: wait, you mean the dmap? The dmaps make the chest concave, not skin details. Custom dmaps can be made as sliders or presets but not in s4s

Skin details are a category, they don't have to be texture-based.
It is entirely possible to alter a singular aspect of the sim's body on a per-outfit basis using accessories or skin details. They are categories in CAS, they are not "types of things you can do". They're just designations. There are plenty of existing accessories and skin details that modify the body or face's structure.

By default, skin detail, the part type, is a texture-based skin imperfection. Open CAS catalogue, select every part type with Skin detail in it and you will see nothing but texture-based content. Disable mods, open CAS, and you will see nothing but texture-based items in the skin detail category. Textures cannot modify the geometry.
If you have anything else in the skin detail category in CAS, they are re-categorized presets, head/body replacements, accessories, etc. Open any of them in s4s and you will see that it is either of them. Out of them all, only presets can accomplish what you are trying to do.
Re-categorizing or calling a preset "skin detail" will not change the fact that you cannot make them with s4s, use morphmaker for this.

I am aware of what a skin detail is. Not only can geometry be saved as skin details and fully function (it's EXTREMELY common for occult details), you can, in fact, modify the shape of a sim's base geometry using a skin detail. My sim's facial structure has been modified by one for several years. It's not an overlay. It can be sculpted. It adjusts to the facial structure. It is very frustrating to be talked down to like this. I understand what a skin detail is. I understand textures aren't model geometry. I am not an idiot. I don't appreciate you acting like you think I am, because you don't understand what I'm actually trying to have a conversation about. Do you remember when you insisted that a question I had was irrelevant to Sims 4 Studio, and then it turned out the answer to my problem was found within the program, and had, in fact, been relevant all along, but you didn't know how to do it? I believe you said you learned from that that other people's answers shouldn't be taken for granted. You are not obligated to respond to threads with questions you cannot answer.

i am not “taking down to you” but explaining how to check the information I provided. you will not find a single preset in the catalogue because s4s cannot work with this data, they are only in the game file cruiser Open these custom packages and look at what they really are: accessory head replacements or presets.
There are, like, 5 people who check these threads regularly and the others specialise in build/buy items, so good luck
