I've tried following several tutorials for creating custom specular maps for objects. I've been over this one many times: sims4studio.com/thread/1617/create-rgb-specular-objects. But there are no tutorials using anything other than photoshop.
I get stuck because I don't have photoshop. I've tried other programs like Gimp, Affinity Photo, and Paint.net and the channels don't work the same way.
For example, I don't have an RGB channel. I have red, blue, green, and alpha. but I don't have a dedicated rgb channel. Also, I cannot copy/paste my bake image from my RGB channel image into the Alpha channel. I cannot paste anything into my alpha channel.
I can't figure out if I'm just dumb or if editing specular maps is just impossible in other programs.
