Hi. Once you hit the apply button in the data transfer modifier, you're done with uv_1. There is a method to using that template but most importantly there is no need in it anymore. Unfold rig, make top selectable, transfer uvs from that top to your nails with nearest face interpolated, apply.

Hm, turns out the original fingernails have smacked uvs in uv_1, not regular ones. Re-transfer uvs not from the nude body but from other nails

what does other nails mean in this case? I checked another set of ea nails (ManiFrenchTip) and it seems to also have weird uv_1 thats just dots hmm. Should I maybe transfer uv1 from some cc nails instead?

yeah, that's what i mean by "smacked". Basically they just took a uv island of the nail and weld all of its uvs into one, so now all vertices of the nail share the same uv coordinate. you could do it as well but they have to be in specific places, i suppose. So just transfer uv_1 from maxis nails.
Nonono, cc creators do not know better than maxis developers. Never use cc as a reference for how to do something that exists from maxis.

It seems that you are either importing the wrong blend file or are saving the file in the version of blender that has no plugin ( and the original is not being overwritten). Open the package you shared and you'll see that the item has 17k tris. If you were to export the blend, you'll see that it still has the original problem of misplaced uvs. Then import the latest blend file you shared and you'll see 12k and it will work as intended in ts4

I imported the latest blend file into my package (it had the proper uvs) and just to check I exported it and its still 17k + the uvs have gone back to the old ones for some reason? maybe something is wrong with this package. (I'm using the same files as above so that's why I haven't shared them)

The blend file is not being imported and the old one is not being overwritten. Open the edited blend file in the version of blender that has s4studio cas tools. Make sure the nails are visible and selectable. Then save the blend file without changing anything. Try importing the blend file again.

Both 2.79 (the ver i use the most) and 2.70 have cas tools so I tried to save on both versions and re-import it and its still 17k and old uvs
I'm think of maybe just starting a new package and importing it because I'm following your steps and its still not working :(( The steps you gave me are easy to follow so I don't think I'm missing any steps?

Yeah, try the new package. If it will still give you 17k, then close the package without saving, open again, export the maxis nails, open the blend, delete the original meshgroup, append yours, save, import in the package
