Hi, I'm having a weird issue and was wondering if someone could please advise. I am unable to install CAS Tools properly in my version of Blender 2.76B, and keep getting the input error message "No Module Named s4studio".
S4Studio has the proper filepath for Blender, I've tried closing and reopening both programs multiple times, and I've moved both programs to my Documents folder and repeated all steps since after reading through other posts it looked like it could be a permission issue. I've tried manually installing the io.sims.py file into Blender by going through the User Preferences and adding it that way - and also (after removing it from the User Preferences) directly moving the file into Blender\2.76\Scripts\addons, and both installation methods give me the same error message where "no module names s4studio".
I'm not sure what else could be the problem at this point, hopefully someone has an idea. If it helps, both S4Studio and Blender are on my D drive, since that's where Documents is.

Blender and s4s do not need to be in My documents, there is already a folder called sims 4 studio that serves a different purpose, so i dont know if you should be putting it there. Try moving them elsewhere on the d drive, just in case. Then try running s4s as admin and adding and changing the path. Restart blender and check if the plugin appeared. If not, try adding s4s( the exe file, the installation folder and the folder in My documents) to exceptions in your antivirus( If you don't have the third party one, in Microsoft defender). Then try enabling the plugin again (import-export: sims 4 studio blender tools, not library) If none of this will help, maybe try giving the permission to do everything to s4s or to the entire d drive? |

mauvemorn When I do that, the module appears, but does not work same as the other times. I still get the error message: Traceback (most recent call last): "File ="D:\Other Programs\Blender Foundation\Blender\2.76\scripts\modules\addon_utils.py", line 342, in enable mod = _import_(module_name) File = "C\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\2.76\scripts\addons\io_sims.py", line 7, in <module> import s4studio.animation ImportError: No module named 's4studio'
Edit: and after digging in my AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\2.76 folder and subfolders it looks like everything is in there properly. The filepaths are correct for the "Sims4Studio_v3.1.5.8 (Wishes)\Blender\Scripts" and "Documents\Sims 4 Studio\Mods" installations. The io.sims.py file is in the "scripts\addons" folder and the io_sims.cpyuthon-34.pyc file is in the "addons\_pycache_" folder.

hmm, maybe try installing blender 2.70 or 2.78 and changing the path to it, just to see if it will change anything?

mauvemorn , I first tried with 2.70 then went to 2.76 when I had the error message. I just tried again with 2.78, had to install from file, and also got the "no module named S4Studio" error, in relation to line 7 of the io_sims.py file in AppData\Roaming. Do I need to download a different version of S4Studio?

No, you need to always use the version of s4s that is up to date with the version of your game. Maybe you could try these steps - adding to exceptions in antivirus, running as admin - with blender and its installation folder? Could check if .net framework is up to date as well. Just in case, do your other paths look like this, including the \?  |

mauvemorn, I have .NET version 4.8.4084.0, from 2019, which I think is the latest one? My settings folders all look correct, I'd post a screenshot except the forum wants me to link to an external photo sharing server which I don't have. I added the new D:\Other Programs\ folder where both Sims4Studio and Blender are located to my Windows Defender exceptions and launched both Sims4Studio and Blender 2.78 as admin and had the same results.

andrew sorry to bother again, do you happened to know what can prevent blender from accepting the plugin? The plugin is in the right folder and appears in the list of addons in blender but it just does not want to accept it. Both blender and s4s are on the d drive, in exceptions in the antivirus, granted the permission to do everything, ran as admin. Op tried 2.70, 2.76, 2.78.

I swear to God I've seen this before. If I remember correctly when it says "module" it's referring to a folder named "s4studio." I'll go back through my old posts and see if I can find what I'm thinking of. Edit: I can't find the post right now. But, if I remember correctly, in your app data folder you should have this folder structure: users > (your name) > app data > roaming > Blender Foundation > Blender > (your Blender version) > scripts > addons > s4studio Inside the s4studio folder you should see this:  I don't know how much this will help you but you should verify that you have this folder and its contents. |

Oh, and I use Blender 2.78 without any trouble, but your mileage may vary.

Hi Fwecka (Lolabellesims), I think that's probably the issue I'm having - I have the C:\users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\2.78\scripts\addons\ which has a _pycache_ folder and the io.sims.py file, but no S4Studio folder or any of the files you're showing here. That never got added. It looks like that's actually a folder stored in the Sims4Studio\Blender\Scripts where io_sims.py originally came from. I copied it over that folder and plopped it into my C:\users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Blender Foundation\Blender\2.78\scripts\addons\ then moved _pycache_ into there as well. I can now see the S4Studio CAS Tools in Blender, but meshes aren't importing properly - I can only see s4studio_mesh_1. I have a new error message on importing the Sims 4 Studio Blender Library, where the s4studio module has no attribute "registrar." So it seems like there's still something missing, probably a few things. It looks like Sims4Studio has a few different folders, including \Scenes and \Scripts\Templates - are those in your AppData\Roaming folder, and could you screenshot or describe how they look in relationship to each other and the rest of the content if they're in there? |

Sims 4 Studio Blender Library must no be enabled, only Sims 4 Studio Blender Tools should be. Are you able to export meshes? Clone any hairstyle, open the blend file, select the one that has the cut number 0002, switch to edit mode, select any vertex, and move it far away for the change to be noticeable. Do not do anything else like hiding meshgroups. Save the file, import back in s4s. If the spike will appear in s4s, everything works as intended. mauvemorn, I don't see any of the different mesh groups, just sims4studio_mesh_1. There are no cuts included included in that. I've tried this with two different hair types.
