Hi, I have a question that's a bit odd. I'm trying to redo some of the Star Wars Zabrak horns as hair, but I'm having a hard time having them show up in game. I took a look at what Voidfeather did for their Maul Horns as Hair package, and it looks like they duplicated the existing hat mesh for the s4studio_mesh_1, 2, and 3. This makes the new hair available in CAS, but it means the hat chops are the same as the normal "hair" style and the horns clip right through hats and things.
I kind of need to add a bald style for the chops so hats can cover the horns and nothing clips, but this doesn't seem to exist? I tried opening up some very short hairs in the game to see how they handled hat chops, and it looks like they use a completely different process - there's only one mesh layer and for a few of them the hair doesn't actually show up in Blender.
Any ideas on how to get this to work? I'm a complete beginner to Blender and making CC.

Hi. - under CAS menu choose Create 3d mesh or Create cas stanalone, find the horns, сlone the hair by choosing Next, save somewhere; - press Shift Ctrl C to open the console, paste studio.exportall . This will create a folder with all textures and meshes from the package; - select the shadow map and export it in dds in that same folder; - open the first lod in Blender. Select s4studio_mesh_1, in 3d view press Shift D, then Esc to duplicate it; - select s4studio_mesh_1.001, switch to Edit mode, disable Limit selection to visible, select any face that is inside of the head, press Ctrl I to invert the selection, then Delete - Faces; - then switch back to object mode and duplicate this meshgroup; - select s4studio_mesh_1 again and assign the cut 0002. Select s4studio_mesh_1.001 and assign 0001, then 0000 to s4studio_mesh_1.002; - save this blend; - open lod1, select s4studio_mesh_1, give it 0002; - File - Append - the blend with horns - object - s4studio_mesh_1.001 and s4studio_mesh_1.002, append; - save the blend; - repeat that process - changing the cut, appending two meshgroups - with the remaining lods; - clone the hair for the appropriate frame, not short. When choosing the location and the name, choose the package with horns. It will ask you "overwrite the package?", say yes; - open the console again, paste studio.importall; - import the dds shadow map you exported before; - put this file in the mods folder, check it in cas.

It worked great, thank you!
Edit: annd then I tried re-sizing it for a child sim, and now it's changing the color of the sim's hat. I'll try poking at it some more, lol

mauvemorn, thanks for your help, and I hate to bother you again, but when I try resizing the hair for a child, I keep either getting messages about missing UV maps, the hair isn't visible in CAS, the child sim disappears when wearing the hair, or (best case scenario) whatever hat the child sim wears becomes the same color as their horns. Everything worked fine for the adult sim, and I was able to convert the hat from an adult item to a child item, but both changing it from an adult hair to a child hair, or changing it from a child hat to a child hair, fails.

Here's a link to a OneDrive folder with the child "hair" resources: 1drv.ms/u/s!AliTx9Y_1qqNnelwrSFoIVJ29oQYow?e=ub1qTR
Edit: Apologies, just realized that the package and the blend files came from two different attempts - they should match now, I exported what was in the package.

I see no problems in my game beside misaligned textures on the scalp and no problem with textures or meshes, but the disappearing issue is probably caused the diffuse texture imported in the swatch thumbnail, clear it. If this wont help, try restarting a package

mauvemorn, this particular version is causing some hats (but not others) to take on the diffuse texture of the horns (added some pictures to the shared folder) but otherwise seems to work correctly. I tried removing the other textures, and it seems to be that one specifically. I think I have to fix its UV map?

Since you turned the hat into the hair, changing the location of uvs in uv_0 and textures would be the right thing to do. But since your hat chops are invisible, you can cheat your way out of it by changing the sort layer of the horns. The hair’s sort layer is 12000, the hat’s 11000. You can change the horns’ sort layer to 10700. In the package go to the warehouse tab, select CAS part, in the search bar to the right enter Sort layer, change it to 10700
